Job summary

Freedom Village LP in Missouri is seeking a skilled Full-Time Maintenance Technician for a 108-unit senior apartment community. You will manage day-to-day maintenance, resident requests, and turnovers to keep units and common areas safe and well-maintained.

Applicants should have 5–7 years of multifamily or commercial maintenance experience, knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and painting, and the ability to work with residents and on-call emergencies.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of prior apartment, multifamily, commercial building, or similar maintenance experience.
  • Strong general maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, carpentry, drywall, and painting.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with residents, employees, vendors, and management.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to participate in an emergency on-call schedule.
  • Ability to pass any required background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Diagnose and repair common apartment maintenance issues involving plumbing, electrical systems and fixtures, HVAC, appliances, doors, locks, drywall, and painting.
  • Repair leaking faucets, toilets, drains, disposals, and other plumbing fixtures.
  • Replace outlets, switches, light fixtures, smoke detectors, and other electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot and perform routine repairs to HVAC equipment.
  • Repair or replace appliances as appropriate.
  • Perform minor carpentry, drywall repair, patching, caulking, and painting.
  • Complete work orders accurately and document completed work.
  • Prepare vacant apartments for new residents in a timely manner.

Position: Maintenance Technician
Employment Type: Full-Time
Property Size: 108 Units
Reports To: Property Manager / Regional Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, dependable Full-Time Maintenance Technician to oversee the day-to-day maintenance needs of a 108-unit senior apartment community.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining resident apartments, common areas, building systems, grounds, and equipment in a safe, clean, and well-maintained condition. This position requires a strong general maintenance background, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to interact professionally and respectfully with senior residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Diagnose and repair common apartment maintenance issues involving:
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical systems and fixtures
    • Heating and cooling systems
    • Appliances
    • Doors, locks, and hardware
    • Drywall and painting
    • Bathroom and kitchen fixtures
  • Repair leaking faucets, toilets, drains, disposals, and other plumbing fixtures.
  • Replace outlets, switches, light fixtures, smoke detectors, and other electrical components within the employee's training and qualifications.
  • Troubleshoot and perform routine repairs to HVAC equipment.
  • Repair or replace appliances as appropriate.
  • Perform minor carpentry, drywall repair, patching, caulking, and painting.
  • Complete work orders accurately and document completed work.
  • Prepare vacant apartments for new residents in a timely manner.
  • Complete painting, patching, cleaning, fixture replacement, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, and other turnover work.
  • Perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance throughout the property.
  • Inspect and maintain building equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Monitor plumbing, HVAC, electrical, life-safety, and other building systems for potential problems.
  • Replace filters, batteries, bulbs, and other routine maintenance items according to schedule.
  • Inspect the property regularly for maintenance, safety, and appearance issues.
Required Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of prior apartment, multifamily, commercial building, or similar maintenance experience.
  • Strong general maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, carpentry, drywall, and painting.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with residents, employees, vendors, and management.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to participate in an emergency on-call schedule.
  • Ability to pass any required background screening.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach.
  • Use ladders and stairs.
  • Work in mechanical rooms, apartments, common areas, and exterior areas.
  • Lift and carry maintenance materials, tools, appliances, and equipment.
  • Safely lift approximately 50 pounds independently and heavier items with appropriate assistance or equipment.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Respond to maintenance emergencies throughout different areas of the property.
