Job summary

6AM City, LLC in Kentucky is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to support high-volume plastic injection molding operations, focusing on mechanical maintenance with electrical troubleshooting as needed.

Job Description

Join a leading automotive manufacturer as an Industrial Maintenance Technician, where you will support high-volume plastic injection molding operations by performing a blend of mechanical and electrical maintenance. You will focus primarily on mechanical work while also providing electrical troubleshooting support as needed to keep production equipment running safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general industrial maintenance on plastic injection molding machines and associated production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, pumps, gears, air systems, cylinders, valves, and chain track systems.
  • Carry out machine repairs, including disassembly, replacement of components, and reassembly to restore equipment to proper operation.
  • Install, relocate, and rig machines and equipment safely, following all site procedures and safety standards.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance (PMs) on production machinery to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480V three-phase, ensuring safe and compliant work practices.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings to identify faults and plan repairs.
  • Perform MIG and stick welding on equipment and structures as needed for repair and fabrication work.
  • Fabricate brackets, guards, supports, and other components to improve equipment reliability and safety.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and repair issues involving sensors, motors, and related control components on production equipment.
  • Support troubleshooting of PLC-controlled equipment and robotic systems as needed to restore operation.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address recurring equipment issues and implement long-term solutions.
  • Document maintenance work performed, including parts used and issues identified, to support maintenance planning and continuous improvement.
  • Follow all safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance, reliability, and uptime.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills for industrial equipment, including conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, and pumps.
  • Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting up to 480V three-phase safely and effectively.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on production machinery.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical systems such as gears, air systems, cylinders, valves, and chain track systems.
  • Proficiency in MIG welding for equipment repair and fabrication.
  • Ability to perform stick welding on equipment and related structures.
  • Experience with machine rigging, including moving, installing, and securing heavy equipment.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting sensors, motors, and related control components.
  • Ability to support PLC troubleshooting and work around PLC-controlled systems.
  • Experience working with or around robots and robotic systems in a production environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work a consistent third-shift schedule and adapt to a 4x10 schedule structure.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to all site safety procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certifications or formal education in maintenance, industrial technology, or a related field are highly desirable.
  • Background as a maintenance electrician, maintenance mechanic, or machine repair technician is beneficial.
  • Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Exposure to conveyor systems and automated material handling equipment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with journeyman-level maintenance practices is a plus.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with complex equipment.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with production and engineering teams.
