Job summary

Preferred Apartment Communities seeks a hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep our communities safe, comfortable, and well-maintained, handling repairs and resident needs.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of maintenance experience, refrigeration certification or willingness to obtain in 90 days, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move heavy equipment. We offer strong benefits and opportunities to grow.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years maintenance experience; apartment maintenance preferred.
• Refrigeration certification (Type II or Universal) or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, move 300-lb items on wheels, climb 40-ft ladders, and use hand tools/test equipment.
• Ability to move heavy equipment often weighing 100–300+ lbs, including stairs.
• Comfort working at heights and in varied conditions during repairs and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance requests including repairs to appliances, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, gates, pools, and general facilities.
• Respond to emergency calls during evenings, weekends, and holidays to resolve urgent issues.
• Prepare vacant units by completing tasks to make apartments rent-ready.
• Maintain facilities and inventory by organizing shops, stocking parts, and keeping amenity areas clean and operational.
• Provide resident support through professional communication, addressing complaints, delivering notices, and assisting with events.
• Handle administrative tasks like logging service requests, updating databases, and monitoring vendor performance.

• Refrigeration certification (Type II or Universal) required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, move 300-lb items on wheels, climb 40-ft ladders, and use hand tools, test equipment, and hand trucks.
• Ability to move heavy equipment such as appliances, laundry machines, building materials, and amenity equipment (often 100-300+ lbs), including up stairs when required.
• Comfort working at heights and in varied conditions while performing repairs, upgrades, and resident service tasks using ladders and other equipment.
