Job summary

Morton Industries LLC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to uphold the facility’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Duties include inspecting equipment, performing preventive and break-fix maintenance, and coordinating repairs to minimize downtime.

The role requires hands-on capabilities in carpentry and metalworking, safety adherence, and the ability to read blueprints. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or 2 years’ related experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree with technical focus or 2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience with reading blueprints and technical manuals is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs break-fix preventative maintenance. This includes but not limited to: adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments to sustain and improve operations repairing or replacing defective parts reconditioning or repairing machine tools, diagnose mechanical failures and perform repairs on facility equipment as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair of production equipment from blueprints, technical manuals, or vendor specifications.
  • Maintain organization of Maintenance Repair Area and any other area where repair work is in progress.
  • Identifies needed parts, supplies, and repair items.
  • Provides support and back up for other members of department as needed by leadership.
  • React to machine break downs with a sense of urgency.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities
  • May be required to setup and operate simple machining operations including but not limited to: lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. May perform basic welding tasks.
  • Install new equipment as required along with moving equipment for production use as required.
  • Completes technical self-study programs for career development.
  • Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions and guidelines. Situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • All other duties as assigned
