Job summary

Newly Weds Foods- Corporate is seeking a Maintenance Technician responsible for repairing and maintaining production equipment to minimize downtime and meet KPI targets related to safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.

The role requires strong communication with Quality, Warehouse, and Production teams, and may involve weekend work or shift reassignment to support production goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years industrial maintenance experience.
• 2 years technical school or associate's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots machine applications including VFDs, electrical controls, power distribution, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Communicates findings to Maintenance Manager and Production Manager.
• Documents repairs and findings in the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
• Performs preventive maintenance and inspections, including during shutdowns which may require weekend work.
• Supports installation and start-up of new equipment.
• Welds and performs machine shop tasks for equipment repair.
• Works with vendors on rebuilds and service visits to reduce downtime.
• Reads electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints.
• Reads micrometers, calipers, and tape measures in metric and standard.
• Overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Reports food safety and quality concerns per SQF procedures.

Primary Job Function

The Maintenance Technician is a Team Member who is involved in equipment repair and preventive maintenance to prevent downtime of machinery consistent with company goals, business unit Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to include safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and customer service. The Maintenance Technician will be expected to maintain a good level of communication with other departments (Quality, Warehouse, Production, etc...) and ensure production priorities and shortfalls are addressed in a timely fashion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Applies maintenance troubleshooting skills in a wide variety of machine applications in response to production requirements (VFDs, Electrical Controls, Power Distribution Systems, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems, HVAC, etc..).


• Communicates information to Maintenance Manager and Production Manger regarding technical issues, equipment problems, and continuous improvement ideas.


• Documents equipment repairs/findings onto work orders for input into Maintenance Management System (MMS).


• Performs Preventative Maintenance (PM's), inspections and/or repair of equipment during shutdowns which may require weekend work and/or shift reassignment in response to production requirements.


• Supports the installation and start-up of new equipment.


• Performs welding and machine shop tasks related to repair of equipment and machinery.


• Works with equipment vendors or technical representatives on re-builds, service visits and equipment training to reduce downtime.


• Troubleshoots control wiring, relay logic, motor drive circuits, control system devices, photo eyes, limit switches, proximity switches, and transducers.


• Utilizes Digital Volt Meter, Mega OHM Meter and AMP probes to diagnose electrical problems.


• Preform Machine Adjustments as needed in support of production.


• Assist In Product Change Overs as required in support of production.

• Must Be Able To Stand On Concrete Floors For Long Periods Of Time


• Must Be Able To Work Overtime, Weekends, And Holidays


• Responsible to report food safety and quality concerns to Supervision, Quality or Senior Management. Support the SQF system through adherence to plant policies and procedures

Qualification Requirements

• Applicant must be a committed team worker with a keen sense of responsibility and excellent attention to detail.


• 2 Yrs. Technical School or Associates Degree Preferred
