Job summary

Utz Quality Foods is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Algona, WA facility on the 3rd shift. You will independently install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical components of production and facility equipment.

Key tasks include repairing equipment, PLC-controlled systems, preventive maintenance, and working from schematics. Candidates should have 5–7 years in manufacturing, with food manufacturing a plus, and be capable of minor electrical installations.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years manufacturing experience, food manufacturing a plus.
• General electrical including blueprints/schematics.
• General plumbing knowledge for water, gas, drainage systems.
• Welding with ARC, Oxyacetylene, torch.
• Machining and lathe operations.
• PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers).
• Knowledge of lock-out/tag-out and food safety practices.
• Experience with general tools (hammers, pliers, grease guns).
• Parts procurement and inventory to prevent downtime.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs equipment (motors, drives, fryers, sheeters, extruders, temp controls, burners, packaging, scales, PLCs).
• Repairs facility equipment (lifts, pumps, fans, air compressors, HVAC).
• Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance planning and execution.
• Install/repair from schematics and drawings; minor electrical installations.
• Contribute to food safety responsibilities.

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to work from our manufacturing facility in Algona, WA on 3rd Shift. The Maintenance Tech is responsible to work independently installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining, all mechanical and electrical components of production and facility equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs manufacturing equipment (motor controls, DC/AC drives and controls, frying and baking equipment, sheeters, extruders, temperature instrumentation, burner systems and controls, packaging machines, electronic scales, programmable logic controllers), etc.
• Responsible for repairing various facility equipment types (lift trucks, pumps, fans, air compressors, hydraulic equipment, HVAC), etc.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment.
• Prepares, coordinates, and implements preventive maintenance.
• Completes installation and repair work from schematics and drawings.
• Capable of minor electrical installations.
• Responsible for quality and food safety tasks for their position.

Requirements

• General mechanical skills consistent with 5 - 7 years experience in a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing a plus).
• Advanced knowledge/training/certification in the following areas:
• General electrical including blueprint reading and schematics
• General plumbing involving installing, maintaining and repairing water, gas, and drainage systems
• General Welding including ARC, Oxyacetylene, torch
• Machining and Lathe operations
• PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers)
• Knowledge of safe operating practices involved in the use of power tools, lock-out/tag-out programs and food safety.
• Experience with general category tools (hammers, pliers, grease guns, etc.).
• Knowledge of parts procurement and inventory processes to ensure uninterrupted operation of equipment and critical part replenishment.

Starting payrate: $32.27/hour + $1.00 per hour for 3rd Shift differential.
