Job summary

Emerson Electric Co. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support production by repairing forklifts and a range of manufacturing equipment. The role requires diagnosing issues, following technical documentation, and maintaining accurate maintenance logs.

You will perform general facility maintenance, fabricate parts, manage spare parts inventory, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Strong problem-solving and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or technical discipline preferred.
  • Ability to read micrometers and calipers and use hand/power tools.
  • Ability to read circuitry, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Maintain maintenance records accurately.
  • Experience operating a forklift and obtaining forklift certification.
  • Strong knowledge of EPA/OSHA safety practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and diagnose issues with forklifts and equipment to keep production available.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems using manuals.
  • Document actions and repairs in maintenance logs.
  • Perform general building maintenance (plumbing, HVAC, drywall, painting, carpentry).
  • Design and fabricate parts and safety systems using drills, mills, grinders, lathe, welding equipment.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and keep records in ERP system.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and reorder materials to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct inspections and support construction projects; troubleshoot facility systems.
  • Purchase tools and equipment from approved vendors.
  • Review and sign waste manifests per regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, NFPA 70E Arc Flash, and SWPPP; maintain DOT HM handling certification.

Job description

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Perform repairs and diagnose issues with forklifts and various manufacturing equipment to ensure machinery is available to support production operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic production equipment using equipment manuals and technical documentation.
  • Respond to equipment service requests and accurately document actions and repairs in maintenance logs.
  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, piping systems, HVAC maintenance, drywall installation, painting, and light carpentry.
  • Design and fabricate parts, safety systems, and equipment using tools such as drills, mills, grinders, lathes, and welding equipment.
  • Complete preventive maintenance activities and maintain preventive maintenance records within the company's ERP system.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, monitor minimum stock levels, and reorder materials as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct scheduled inspections, support special construction projects, and troubleshoot facility equipment and systems.
  • Purchase tools and equipment from approved vendors to support maintenance activities.
  • Review and sign waste manifests in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain annual certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, NFPA 70E Arc Flash Safety, and in-house SWPPP programs.
  • Maintain DOT Hazardous Materials Handling certification as required.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • High school diploma, GED, or demonstrated ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a high school level.
  • Maintenance Technician certification or equivalent experience maintaining industrial machinery.
  • Ability to read micrometers and calipers and use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret circuitry, equipment drawings, machinery prints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and document maintenance activities.
  • Experience operating a forklift and the ability to successfully complete forklift certification requirements.
  • Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to perform additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Associate degree in a technical discipline related to maintenance, manufacturing, or industrial systems.
  • Experience supporting industrial maintenance operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Documented PLC training from an accredited institution or experience with PLC, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Licensed Electrician, Plumber, and/or HVAC/R Contractor certification.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting complex equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
