Job summary

Balchem Corporation is seeking an experienced maintenance technician for our manufacturing facility. The role focuses on installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of piping, electrical systems, and machinery to keep production running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of manufacturing maintenance experience, is comfortable with 2nd shift (3:00pm–11:30pm) and an on-call rotation. PLC and boiler knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of five years maintenance experience in manufacturing.
  • 2nd shift: 3:00pm - 11:30pm, M-F.
  • On-call rotation required.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and maintains piping and related equipment.
  • Performs electrical work including wiring and motors.
  • Diagnoses and fixes electrical failures or problems.
  • Maintains machinery and performs preventive maintenance.
  • Inspects and repairs mechanical devices and parts.
  • Operates measuring instruments and tools; adheres to safety procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Installs and maintains water, gas, air, oil and heating piping and associated equipment. Such as pumps, reducing /relief valves, temperature control and ventilating systems
  • Performs electrical work, including plan layouts, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures and apparatus such as fuses, circuit breakers, switches and motors
  • Diagnosis and fix electrical failure or problems
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation.
  • Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts.
  • Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments.
  • Maintains inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs mechanical operations to build, repair and maintain plant machinery; such as machine parts where machinery requirements must hold close to the specifications; works from drawings or samples and uses machines such as grinders, hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Performs metal working duties, such as repairing or installing steel or aluminum wall siding, doors, duct work, shelving and other metal materials
  • Inspects building and grounds for any repairs or maintenance needed and reports findings to the supervisor
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures including use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards
  • Performs other related duties
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of five years maintenance experience in manufacturing
  • 2 nd shift: 3:00pm - 11:30pm, M-F
  • On-call rotation required
PREFERRED:
  • Knowledge of PLC and Boilers
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Continuous physical activity throughout the workday such as climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, hearing, talking, repetitive motion and moving objects weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Operates a variety of handheld power and mechanical tools
  • Works inside and outside, noise above ambient level
  • Proximity to moving mechanical parts, may wear hearing protection, may be required to wear/use respirator
  • Inside areas may periodically reach temperatures over 100 degrees F
