Job summary

The Kraft Heinz Kendallville plant is seeking aMaintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment across production and utilities. You'll coordinate with production to keep lines efficient and ensure product quality, while performing preventive inspections and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

The role requires hands-on maintenance experience, a safety-conscious mindset, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dusty environment.

Qualifications

• Maintenance training/degree and experience in manufacturing maintenance.
• Self-motivated with a strong drive for results.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Able to climb a ladder.
• Able to work in dusty, starch-containing environments.
• Able to work in hot and humid conditions.
• Knowledge of manufacturing/food processing, quality, hygiene, safety preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment for building, production, and utilities.
• Coordinate with production for corrective maintenance to ensure line efficiency and product quality.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections on all production, building, and utilities equipment.
• Participate in developing documented preventive maintenance plan.
• Recommend and implement continuous improvement on equipment and system design.
• Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Communicate with maintenance on other shifts to coordinate efforts.
• Collaborate cross-functionally as part of the operations team.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Team Leader.

Plant Overview:

• Non-union plant employing 280 employees across 3 shifts.
• Purchased in 1934 from Breyer’s Ice Cream and began producing caramel in 1935.
• Began producing Marshmallows and Marshmallow Crème in 1961 and Marbits (think dehydrated marshmallows found in cereal) in 1979.
• Kendallville is the sole producer of all our product lines.

Community Overview:

• Kendallville is located about 30 minutes north of Fort Wayne and offers a small-town community.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment as needed associated with the building, production, and utilities.
• Coordinate with production to address any corrective maintenance required on assigned equipment to ensure optimum line efficiency and product quality.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections on all production, building, and utilities equipment as assigned.
• Participate in the development of documented preventive maintenance plan.
• Recommend and implement continuous improvement on equipment and system design.
• Analyze equipment failures and recommend/implement corrective actions.
• Communicate with maintenance personnel on other shifts, as necessary, to ensure coordination of maintenance efforts on assigned equipment.
• Work cross functionally as a member of the operations team.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Team Leader.
