Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Michigan to maintain and repair machinery and support multiple production lines on-site. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, tool and equipment upkeep, and collaboration with the facilities team to keep uptime high.

Ideal candidates have a strong mechanical base, basic electrical skills, and the ability to read schematics. A high school diploma or GED is required; a Maintenance Technology degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment and tools per PM schedule.
• Communicate status of equipment with internal customers.
• Identify needs for outside services and coordinate repairs.
• Fabricate or assemble specialized tools, carts, or equipment as needed.
• Prepare material Bills of Materials for major projects.
• Prioritize urgent tasks and make day-to-day decisions.
• Operate material handling equipment as required.
• Adhere to plant LOTO safety procedures.

Position Description

• §The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of machinery and auxiliary equipment, as well as building special items to support multiple production lines.
• §The Maintenance Technician will engage in the repair of tools, machinery, equipment, and repair and maintain machines.

Essential Job Functions

• §Maintain equipment and tools as needed and per the PM schedule.
• §Communicates consistently with internal customers regarding status of equipment.
• §Advises supervisor of needs for outside services and works with service representatives on equipment and controls repair and installation.
• §Shows competency in several crafts and performs handyman aspects in all trades and can execute the build of specialized tools, carts, equipment as needed by the facilities & operations team.
• §Prepares bills of material on jobs requiring major material use and initiates purchase requisitions.
• §Makes day to day work-related decisions and prioritize needs to complete more urgent items first.
• §Uses various material handling equipment such as hoists, carts, lifts, fork trucks and hand trucks in moving light to heavy weight material.
• §Uses a variety of lock-out/tag-out devices as required per plant LOTO Plan.

Education, Experience & Skills

• §High School Diploma required or GED equivalent required.
• §Degree in Maintenance Technology or equivalent preferred.
• §Experience with a wide range of mechanical equipment.
• §Three (3) plus years of experience in maintenance is preferred, but not required.
• §Strong mechanical skills.
• §Basic electrical skills.
• §Comprehension of schematics/blueprints.
• §Self-starter and motivated to maintain building/machines to 100% uptime via strong preventative activities.
