Job summary

BlueScope Recycling Materials is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to perform a wide range of maintenance and repair activities on plant and mobile equipment within an industrial scrap yard environment in Delta, OH. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on plant and mobile equipment.
• Conduct periodic inspections to identify wear, damage, and replacement needs; ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
• Utilize technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to troubleshoot, diagnose, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, including but not limited to loaders, shears, grapples, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailers, shredders, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
• Perform welding, grinding, torching, and weld setup as required.
• Safely set up and disassemble machinery and equipment.
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including proper handling of hazardous materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other departments regarding equipment status and repair needs.

Summary:

The Maintenance Technician II performs a wide range of maintenance and repair activities under moderate supervision. This role is considered fully proficient within a specific technical discipline and is responsible for maintaining and servicing plant equipment and mobile equipment within the scrap yard to support safe and efficient operations.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on plant and mobile equipment.
• Conduct periodic inspections to identify wear, damage, and replacement needs; ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
• Utilize technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to troubleshoot, diagnose, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.

• Ability to navigate uneven surfaces in active scrap yard operations.

Work Environment

This role operates in an industrial scrap recycling environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
