Job summary

Garner by IHG Wytheville East is seeking a proactive Maintenance Technician to ensure the reliable operation and upkeep of mechanical, electrical, and appliance systems across our facilities.

You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and participate in equipment upgrades, with emphasis on HVAC and kitchen appliances. This in-person, on-site role offers hands-on work and opportunities to support operations and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of appliance repair and HVAC/HVAC&R systems.
• Ability to read schematics, manuals and blueprints.
• Experience with maintenance operations and MRO procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, and kitchen appliances.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues using schematics and manuals.
• Repair, install, and upgrade HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate company vehicles safely for maintenance tasks.
• Read schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to diagnose issues and execute repairs.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and parts used.
• Support construction or renovation projects with mechanical expertise.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical systems, HVAC units, refrigeration equipment, and kitchen appliances to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and repair various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues using schematics and technical manuals.
• Conduct appliance repairs, installations, and upgrades including HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate company vehicles safely to transport tools, parts, or equipment as needed for maintenance tasks.
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used in compliance with operational standards.
• Assist with construction or renovation projects by providing mechanical expertise and support for equipment installation or system upgrades.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of appliance repair, HVAC & HVAC/R systems (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration).
• Proven experience in service technician roles with strong mechanical knowledge and systems repair skills.
• Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and blueprints for troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues.
• Skilled in maintaining kitchen equipment and performing appliance installation or repair tasks efficiently.
• Familiarity with maintenance operations including MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) procedures.
• Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Experience operating construction tools or equipment related to mechanical system upgrades or repairs.
• Leadership qualities that enable effective team collaboration and problem-solving under pressure.
