Job description

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician maintains the physical integrity of the community by ensuring a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff. They report to the Maintenance Supervisor and are required to be on-call after business hours to respond to emergencies.

Education

• High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Vocational or technical school equivalent required.

Experience

• Prior experience in property maintenance work required.
• Prior experience working in a residential setting is preferred.
• Experience in apartment turnovers.
• Experience with dry wall repairs, installation, painting prep, and painting work.
• Basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills and experience.
• Knowledge of the safe use of hand tools and small power tools.
• Knowledge in HVAC and routine preventative maintenance a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to take on call responsibilities.
• Ability to work with and around people in a positive and cooperative manner.
• Must possess neat and orderly work habits and attention to detail.
• Solid verbal and written communication in English; other languages are a plus.
• Self-directed, reliable and responsible.
• Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record and auto insurance, and be willing to use personal transportation.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to send and receive emails, enter hours worked and expenses on an internet-based system, and perform data entry in property management software.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate after‑hour and weekend emergencies.

Licensure

• Valid driver's license with a good driving record and auto insurance.
