Job summary

T.R. McKenzie is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our apartment communities clean, safe, and market-ready.

You will prepare vacant units, respond to maintenance requests, and perform plumbing, electrical, and appliance repairs while working effectively in all weather conditions. This role emphasizes hands-on craftsmanship and outstanding customer service, with opportunities to contribute to preventative maintenance, pool upkeep, and general property maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare vacant apartments for new residents and maintain market-ready standards.
  • Respond promptly to resident maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergencies.
  • Perform plumbing, appliance, electrical, lock, smoke detector, and screen repairs.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Perform daily pool maintenance including water testing and chemical balancing.
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of grounds, common areas, and maintenance shops.
  • Communicate maintenance concerns to the Property Manager.
  • Use and maintain company tools and materials properly.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in maintaining the quality, safety, and appearance of T.R. McKenzie properties. This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of apartment communities, preparing vacant apartments for new residents, completing resident work orders, performing preventative maintenance, and helping ensure our communities remain clean, safe, and market-ready.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a variety of hands-on work, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and provides outstanding customer service to residents while working efficiently in all types of weather conditions.

Day-to-Day Expectations

Maintenance Technicians are expected to:

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Availability to participate in evening and weekend on-call rotations
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 20 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely operate power tools and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 28 feet and perform work at heights
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and maintenance materials
  • Ability to travel between properties and assist other maintenance teams as needed
  • Regular attendance and participation at required meetings and training sessions
