Job summary

Transitions Optical, a part of EssilorLuxottica, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support production by maintaining facility equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, and contribute to safety initiatives across the plant.

The role requires 3+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience, PLC knowledge, and proficiency with CMMS. This on-site position offers a competitive package and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • 3+ years experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of electronic test equipment (multimeter, amp meter).
  • Basic understanding of PLC operation preferred.
  • Proficient in computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on facility equipment; troubleshoot and repair to maintain production schedules.
  • General facility maintenance (painting, cleaning, HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and support events.
  • Disassemble, clean, test, adjust, and repair equipment mechanically and electrically.
  • Perform minor electronic repair, calibration, alignment; setup and calibration of equipment.
  • Use hand and power tools for machine, building, and grounds maintenance.
  • Record daily and periodic safety audits and support safety initiatives.

JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL FUNCTION

The primary focus of this position is to perform maintenance actions on any facility equipment in order to support production needs. The Maintenance Tech is responsible for all duties involved in the immediate as well as preventative maintenance of location equipment and grounds. As part of the maintenance department, the maintenance tech is involved in safety compliance and initiatives. Specific duties for this position range depending on the assigned shift. Supervision ranges from direct to general direction.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: It is required that this position maintain regular, prompt attendance, flex scheduling and be available for overtime as needed. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on facility equipment; troubleshoots and repairs tools and equipment to maintain manufacturing schedules and/or needs. Repairs mechanical breakdowns and troubleshoots all facility equipment – electrical/mechanical
  • Completes general facility maintenance, i.e. painting, cleaning, light construction, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical. Supports set up and tear down of company meetings and other activities
  • Disassembles, cleans, tests adjusts, tunes and repairs all equipment both mechanically and electrically to maintain quality standards.
  • Performs minor electronic repair, calibration, alignment; proper daily set-up and calibration of equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools in performing machine, building, and grounds maintenance
  • Perform and record daily and periodic safety audits to determine if anything does not meet requirements
  • Assist in the administration, development, promotion, education, training and support of safety initiatives
  • Maintain accurate inventory of parts in the inventory control systems by recording parts pulled/used and received.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and perform special projects as needed or directed.

GENERAL

  • Perform all duties in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Inspect small parts for defects and quality control.
  • Assemble small components using hand tools, requiring precision and attention to detail
  • Work in a role with measurable standards – maintaining production goals.
  • Actively participate in daily department meetings, safety meetings, and/or employee committee meetings
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School education or equivalent required. Associate degree in related field preferred.
  • 3+ years previous related experience and/or training with proven ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment both electronically and mechanically required.
  • Knowledge in the use of electronic test equipment preferred. e. multimeter and amp meter.
  • Basic understanding of PLC operation preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams preferred.
  • Basic refrigeration knowledge helpful.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to learn and retain complex equipment functions.
  • Valid Drivers License preferred.
