City of Slidell is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform semi-skilled to skilled tasks in the repair and upkeep of city properties, equipment, and infrastructure. The role requires operating various small engines and vehicles, and handling drainage and concrete work as part of routine maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and at least two years in a related field or six months with the City of Slidell.
Semi-skilled to skilled work in repair and the maintenance of City owned properties, buildings easements, rights of way, subsurface drainage lines, culverts, catch basins, tools, pump stations, retention ponds, fences, sidewalks, curbs, equipment and vehicles, concrete/asphalt streets;

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must pass a technical skills test for Maintenance Technician. Must pass a reading comprehension test. Must successfully complete a Mechanical Aptitude, Learning Aptitude and Candidate Profile Summary.
Included but not limited to; Motorized vehicles and small engine power equipment, including , pickup truck, utility truck, , tamper, plate compactor, chain saws, concrete saws, all purpose saws, pumps, , compressors, sanders, generators, backpack blowers, push mowers, string trimmers, pressure washers, airless sprayers, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, carpentry tools, asphalt/concrete masonry tools, leak detection dies, mobile radio, and phone.
