Job summary

Yanfeng Global Automotive Interiors is seeking an experienced maintenance/engineering professional for our Romulus, MI facility. The role focuses on installing, maintaining and improving production equipment while ensuring safety, quality and reliability in a fast-paced automotive environment.

You will troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems, read related schematics, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of maintenance/engineering experience in manufacturing.
• 1–3 years in the automotive industry preferred.
• Ability to read hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic prints.
• Willingness to travel and work at customer sites.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions of Job:

• Supervisory Capacity: No Supervisory Responsibilities
• Install, repair, maintain and improve all equipment and facilities.
• Analyse and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and operational problems on assigned equipment and make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production throughput, quality and equipment longevity.
• Examine and test equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
• Process Preventive Maintenance (PM) work orders and close them out in the system.
• Record operational data, such as pressure readings, length of stroke, feeds and speeds for use in set-up and preventive maintenance records.
• Review Production System Efficiency and Quality System Efficiency workshops to support continuous improvement; propose and implement continuous productivity, process and quality improvement actions for all facilities.
• Adhere to all applicable Environmental, Health and Safety requirements that pertain to the manufacturing environment and the maintenance function.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Facilitate equipment moves on the shop floor, including all plant utilities, communication and network wiring systems connections.
• Give advice on technical specifications of new equipment and alterations on existing equipment and facilities, making sure manufacturing, maintainability and Health, Safety & Environmental requirements are met.
• Set up requisitions for supplies, equipment and facilities.
• Participate in the management of the inventory of spare parts and consumables to eliminate downtime.
• Keep most recent documentation related to maintenance.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Education Level:

• Technical School
• Area of Study:Specialization in Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or similar.
• Equivalent work experience may also be considered for this position.

Required Qualifications:

• 3 Minimum Years of Experience with Maintenance / Engineering.
• 1-3 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry.
• Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
• Ability to read and understand hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic prints.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues – 12v dc, 120v, 240v single phase, and 480v 3 phase systems and distribution.
• Experience operating basic shop tools.
• High level of mechanical aptitude.
• Proven ability to undertake tasks of substantial variety and/or complexity, which require an extensive knowledge of fabrication/processing techniques, tools, materials, machines, and equipment.
• Ability to work in matrix organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Journeyman Electrical License.
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining a wide variety of equipment including but not limited to – light assembly, plastic welding technology, injection molding machines, slush machines, foam in place equipment, robots.
• Welding experience.
• PLC troubleshooting and programming skills.
• Excellent Electrical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic circuit troubleshooting.

Work Environment:

• Must be able to match the pace of work to the speed of equipment.
• Often exposed to distracting sounds and noisy conditions.
• Work may take place at elevated heights from ladders or powered lifts
• Exposure to hazardous and large equipment with multiple energy sources daily.
• Work is indoor in a manufacturing setting that may not be temperature controlled. Occasional exposure to duties outside on facilities-related projects in all weather conditions.

EHS Requirements:

• Technicians/Operators of High Risk Equipment must be certified before operating (forklift, overhead crane, etc)
• Technicians/Operators of High Risk Activity (Electrician, Welding, etc.) must be certified to meet specific EHS Qualifications including legal requirements.
