Job summary

Ingerman Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the New Bridge Crossing community in River Edge, NJ. The role focuses on repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance across assigned properties, ensuring timely completion of work orders.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, at least two years in maintenance or construction, and willingness to be on‑call on weekends/evenings/holidays. OSHA/EPA/HVAC certifications preferred, and a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work a flex schedule and be on‑call for emergencies on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Ability to read, speak and comprehend English.
  • Proficiency in plumbing, electric and machinery repair.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently in a fast paced environment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs, troubleshoots mechanical systems, and completes preventative maintenance.
  • Restores vacated apartments to move-in condition for new residents.
  • Removes snow, ice and leaves from sidewalks, walkways, steps and driveways/parking spaces.
  • Completes janitorial requirements in accordance with the janitorial schedule.
  • Responds to on‑call emergencies on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Patrols property daily to identify areas needing cleaning and removes litter and debris.

Job description

At MRK, our Maintenance Technicians are responsible for handling repairs, troubleshooting problems, and performing preventative maintenance across assigned properties. This role is essential in maintaining and enhancing the quality of the grounds and buildings, with a strong focus on completing work orders in a timely manner.

We are looking for a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team at the New Bridge Crossing community in River‑Edge, NJ, a property consisting of 69 residential units. If you take pride in maintenance work and have strong diagnostic skills, we encourage you to apply.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Performs repairs, troubleshoots mechanical systems, and completes preventative maintenance. Also conducts maintenance‑related inspections, including building and alarm systems.
  • Restores vacated apartments to move‑in condition for new residents.
  • Removes snow, ice and leaves from sidewalks, walkways, steps and driveways/parking spaces.
  • Completes janitorial requirements in accordance with the janitorial schedule.
  • Responds to on‑call emergencies on weekends, evenings, and holidays—resolving issues.
  • Patrols property daily to identify areas in need of cleaning and completes required work—remove trash/debris from property grounds and common areas, keep the dumpster area clean, and vacuum, sweep and mop common areas, removes litter and debris from lawns, planting beds, parking areas, sidewalks, ramps, and indoor spaces.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years of maintenance or construction experience.
  • One year of experience as a full‑charge residential maintenance technician is preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations is preferred.
  • EPA certification preferred.
  • HVAC certification preferred.
  • Must be able to work a flex schedule and be on‑call for emergencies on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Requires the ability to read, speak and comprehend the English language.
  • Proficiency in performing plumbing, electric and machinery repair.
  • Ability to follow direction and work independently in a fast‑paced, action‑oriented environment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Additional Equipment and Conditions
  • Must have hand tools.
  • ANSI approved steel‑toe shoes/composite.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Willing to assist with other properties within the portfolio and surrounding portfolios as needed.
  • Willing to travel up to 10‑20% of the time.
