Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a maintenance technician to keep industrial equipment running smoothly in a PA facility. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and carry out repairs on various machinery.

The role requires operating forklifts, cranes, and basic metalworking tools, while adhering to strict safety protocols. The position involves minor welding and metal fabrication tasks, and may include inter-area work throughout the plant.

Qualifications

• Experience performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on industrial equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and operating manuals.
• Welding, brazing, and cutting torch skills preferred.
• Capability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operation of machinery by performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.

• Remove/replace defective parts safely and efficiently.
• Maintain inventories of equipment parts and supplies; anticipate needs.

• Perform minor welding, brazing, and cutting torch tasks.
• Carry out minor repairs on trucks and forklifts; operate jib cranes and forklifts.
• Perform lathe, drill press, grinder setup and basic metalworking tasks.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES: (include, but are not limited to, the following)

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on all equipment as well as provides process troubleshooting as needed.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problem; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes/replaces defective parts in a safe manner.
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed parts.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Must be able to do minor welding, brazing and cutting torch.
• Be able to do minor repairs to truck, forklifts, etc.
• Operate Jib Cranes and Forklifts in safe manner.
• Wear safety equipment and obey safety rules.
• Be able to make minor repairs to building through the use of masonry, carpentry and/or cement work.
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder and other metal working tools to make and repair parts.
• May work in other areas throughout the plant.
• And / or other duties as may be assigned.
• Report any Food Safety Problem to senior management.
• Initiates purchase order requests for parts a machine.

MAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with frequent walking.
• Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 20 lbs. to 75 lbs. Crain Hoists are available.
• Walking: Frequent walking of short distances (approx. 200 feet or less).
• Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 20 lbs. to 75 lbs. Crain Hoists are available.
• Bending: Frequent bending and crouching required to complete assembly tasks.
• Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
