Job summary

Umicore is seeking a Maintenance Technician at our Pasadena site to perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on plant equipment. You will execute preventive maintenance tasks to improve reliability and uptime, maintain electrical systems and control panels, and support new installations and commissioning.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of maintenance experience (5–10 preferred) and holds an Associate's degree or technical certification in Electrical,

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or technical certification in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechanical, or equivalent experience.
• 2–5 years of maintenance experience required; 5–10 years preferred in industrial/plant environments.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and working knowledge of electrical systems and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plant equipment (mechanical and electrical).
• Perform preventive maintenance to improve reliability and uptime.
• Maintain and repair electrical systems, motors, and control panels; support installation and commissioning of new systems.

Your Key Accountabilities

Maintenance Execution

• Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on plant equipment
• Complete assigned work orders safely and efficiently
• Execute preventive maintenance (PM) tasks to improve reliability and uptime Electrical & Instrumentation
• Maintain and repair electrical systems, motors, control panels, and instrumentation
• Support installation and commissioning of new electrical systems and equipment
• Diagnose electrical faults and implement corrective actions

Mechanical Maintenance

• Maintain pumps, valves, conveyors, rotating equipment, and mechanical systems
• Perform alignment, lubrication, and mechanical repairs
• Support equipment rebuilds and installations

Safety & Compliance

• Support compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements
• Participate in PHAs, HAZOPs, SOP development, and safety reviews
• Follow OSHA and site safety procedures at all times

Continuous Improvement

• Identify and implement improvements to reduce downtime and improve performance
• Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process optimization
• Assist in developing maintenance procedures and training documentation

Collaboration

• Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and Contractors
• Support training and skill development across the maintenance team
• Foster teamwork and knowledge sharing across disciplines

Who we are looking for

Education & Experience

• Associate's degree, technical certification (Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechanical), OR equivalent experience
• 2-5 years of maintenance experience (mechanical, electrical, or both) required
• 5-10 years of industrial/plant experience preferred

Technical Skills

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills (rotating equipment, piping, valves)
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation
• Experience with preventive maintenance systems and work order management
• Familiarity with SAP or similar systems preferred

Work Schedule

• Rotating shift schedule.
• Initial schedule: 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
• The position will transition to a rotating 12-hour shift schedule , which may include:
  • 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. / 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
  • 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. / 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
