Job summary

Ducommun Incorporated in Parsons, KS is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and pipe systems. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair components, while keeping the facility safe and compliant with hazardous waste policies.

The role requires basic computer skills, ability to read schematics, and experience with hydraulics and electrical components. Overtime may be required to support manufacturing in a dynamic, aerospace-adjacent environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with up to 3 years in maintenance.
  • Technical training in maintenance or related field preferred.
  • Experience with hydraulic pumps and electrical/mechanical components is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains preventative maintenance database for the facility.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment for proper operation.
  • Diagnoses issues by listening to equipment and discussing with supervisors.
  • Dismantles defective machines and installs repaired parts.
  • Cleans, lubricates, and maintains machinery components.
  • Maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains the facility's physical structures.
  • Fabricates benches and wooden structures as needed.
  • Follows hazardous waste policies and safety procedures.

Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe systems.

Job Summary
  • Maintains preventative maintenance database for facility.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Assists in dismantling defective machines and equipment and installing new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains the physical structure of establishment.
  • Fabricates and repairs benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
  • Knowledge of policy and procedures in the event of a Hazardous waste release, fire or explosion.
  • Knowledge of the chemical characteristics and location of hazardous waste in the facility.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
  • Overtime as required to support manufacturing.
  • Performs other duties and assignments as directed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics.
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Ability to operate an overhead crane and hoist
  • Must be able to comply with specific safety policies, i.e. Confined Space, Lockout Tagout, etc.
  • Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions.
  • Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
  • Basic Computer Skills: Able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance.
Required Experience and Education
  • High School Diploma; up to 3 years related experience in job function and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One year commercial maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting hydraulic pumps, cylinders, controls, valves and other function electrical and mechanical components with an hydraulic assembly
  • Basic to advanced electrical and electronic skills.
  • Knowledge of PLC’s and other electronic components preferred
  • Experience with hot form, SPF presses, Lasers, or Water Jets will get preferred status
Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required
  • Knowledge of policy and procedures in the event of a Hazardous waste release, fire or explosion.
  • Knowledge of the chemical characteristics and location of hazardous waste in the facility.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; or crouch.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • May frequently lift and/or move from 1 – 25 pounds, may occasional lift and/or move from 26-50 lbs.
  • Working conditions are:5% office environment, 95% manufacturing environment.
  • Noise level is moderate in office environment and moderate to loud in manufacturing environment.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally works in high precarious places and in outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
  • Hearing protection must be worn in designated manufacturing areas.
  • Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.
  • Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear.
