Job summary

Kalmar Inc. is seeking a Maintenance professional to ensure serviceability of facilities, grounds, and equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance and repairs with emphasis on safety and codes compliance, supporting manufacturing and operations.

The role requires welding and forklift certifications, precertification testing, and ongoing training responsibilities. Kalmar offers competitive compensation and a benefits package, with opportunities to grow within a global leader in material

Qualifications

  • Pre-certification test required prior to hire.
  • Must possess or obtain a Forklift Certification upon starting.
  • Mig Weld Certification (1G) within six months of hire.
  • Certification maintenance: welding tasks every six months.
  • Technical knowledge: stay current on local electrical/building codes and maintenance requirements for capital goods.
  • Regulatory compliance: operation of all vehicles per state/local regs.
  • Preferred: electrical/HVAC/plumbing certifications.
  • Preferred: experience with preventive maintenance in manufacturing.
  • Computer skills: proficiency in diagnostics software and team communication.
  • Willingness to train and ensure trainees' quality.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and comply with plant safety rules, including LOTO procedures.
  • Execute preventive maintenance schedules for equipment, vehicles, and building systems.
  • Accurately report and complete all assigned maintenance work orders.
  • Ensure all work conforms to codes and maintenance specs.
  • Report equipment misuse to Leadperson or Supervisor.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems and propose repairs.
  • Select and use specialized tools and supplies.
  • Maintain housekeeping by returning serviced machines to a clean state.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste per procedures.
  • Provide recommendations to repair, replace, or sub-contract tasks.
  • Perform tasks within established time expectations.
  • Assist Supervisor in training associates as needed.

The primary objective of the Maintenance professional is to ensure the ongoing serviceability of Kalmar facilities, grounds, and equipment. This is achieved through diligent preventative maintenance and repair activities designed to cause minimal impact to daily operations.

What are your key responsibilities:
  • Observe and comply with all plant safety rules and regulations, including LockOut-TagOut (LOTO) procedures.
  • Execute preventive maintenance schedules for all major equipment, vehicles, and building systems.
  • Accurately report and complete all assigned maintenance work orders.
  • Ensure all completed work conforms to applicable codes and maintenance specifications.
  • Report any misuse of plant equipment to the department Leadperson or Supervisor.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment and machinery problems to propose effective repairs.
  • Correctly select and utilize all specialized tools and supplies.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards by returning serviced machines and areas to an acceptable state after work is completed.
  • Control, document, and dispose of hazardous waste materials in strict compliance with company procedures.
  • Provide recommendations to repair, replace, or sub-contract tasks based on sound business reasons.
  • Execute maintenance tasks within established and acceptable time expectations.
  • Assist the Supervisor in training other associates within the department as needed.

What you bring to the role:

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Pre-certification: Successful completion of a precertification test is required prior to hire.
  • Licensing: Must possess or obtain a Forklift Certification upon starting the position.
  • Welding Certification: Must obtain a Mig Weld Certification (1G only) within six months of hire.
  • Certification Maintenance: To remain active, the employee must perform welding tasks every six months.
  • Technical Knowledge: Must keep current on local electrical and building codes, as well as maintenance requirements for capital goods including hoists, forklifts, vehicles, and productive machinery.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Operation of all vehicles must be in compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Preferred: Certifications - electrical / HVAC / Plumbing
  • Preferred: Experience performing preventative maintenance in a manufacturing facility
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in using software tools for diagnostics and communication between team members.
  • Training: Show a willingness to train and take accountability for the trainees' quality.
