Job summary

Bakelite, a company with over 100 years of history, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to help keep dynamic manufacturing operations running smoothly and safely.

You will operate hoists, man-lifts, rigging equipment and forklifts, perform preventive maintenance, follow safety policies, and collaborate with maintenance staff, production operators, engineers, and contractors to follow work plans.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year experience with rotating equipment inspection, alignment and belt tensioning.
• Minimum of one year experience with pumps, seals, valves and bearings.
• Minimum of one year mechanical troubleshooting in manufacturing or military environments.
• Rotational weekend on-call duties required.
• Lift 50 lbs and work in high places and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

Life in Conway

Located in the eastern part of the state, Conway is a small North Carolina town within 100 miles of Richmond, Norfolk-Virginia Beach and the Raleigh-Durham area.

Does a Typical Day Look Like?

Here are your primary responsibilities:

• Operating equipment such as hoists, man-lifts, rigging equipment, and forklifts to complete mechanical installations.
• Applying facility safe work policies and practices.
• Collaboratively working with other maintenance employees, management personnel, production operators, engineers, and contractors.Following work plans and schedules.

What is Needed to be Successful in this Role (Required Skills/Abilities):

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with, understanding, maintaining, and repairing mechanical components e.g.: rotating equipment inspection and assessment, coupling/pulley alignment, belt tensioning and alignment.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with, understanding, maintaining, and repairing mechanical pumps and seals, valves, and bearings.
• Minimum of one (1) year of mechanical troubleshooting (valves, motors, pumps, etc.) experience in a manufacturing or military environment.
• Work required rotational weekend on-call duties.
• Work in high places and confined spaces.Lift 50 lbs. throughout an eight (8) hour shift.
