Job summary

ICL Specialty Fertilizers in North Charleston, SC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our manufacturing plant running safely and efficiently. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and support production with preventive maintenance and timely emergency responses.

The role requires 5+ years in industrial maintenance, reading blueprints/engineered drawings, and working knowledge of motors (up to 480V) and instrumentation (PLC/HMI).

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or a related field.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
• Understanding of electric motors and motor systems (480V and lower).
• Basic familiarity with instrumentation such as level, flow, temperature, PLCs, and HMIs.
• Robust mechanical knowledge of conveying systems, rotating equipment, fans, pneumatics, and packaging equipment.

As the Maintenance Technician at ICL Specialty Fertilizers, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing plant in North Charleston, SC. Your expertise will help maintain our high standards of production and safety.

ICL Specialty Fertilizers has a manufacturing plant in North Charleston, SC. This facility manufactures controlled-release fertilizer brands Osmocote®, Agroblen®, and Agrocote®. The shift assignment of this position varies and does involve occasional overtime, weekend, and holiday coverage as necessary.

• Diagnose and Repair: Identify and fix mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment issues, replacing faulty components as needed.
• Emergency Response: Quickly address equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct and document planned maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Equipment Reliability: Responsible for keeping equipment in top condition for safe and efficient production results as well as identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and maintenance procedures.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and regulations.
• Utilize Tools and Equipment: Safely operate cranes, hoists, hand/power tools, precision measurement tools, and electronic testing devices.
• Collaboration: Work with other departments to identify and resolve equipment issues.
• Inventory Management: Maintain parts and tools inventory, ensuring organization and availability.
• Documentation: Keep detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
• Additional Duties: Operate machines as needed for both troubleshooting and to supplement production requirements during busy periods and perform any other duties as required.

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?

Education:

• HS diploma or GED required.

Technical Skills:

• At least 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or a combination of related technical education and work experience.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
• Understanding of electric motors and motor systems, with essential electrical knowledge and troubleshooting ability (480 volts and lower).
• Basic familiarity with instrumentation such as level, flow, temperature, PLCs, and HMIs.
• Robust mechanical knowledge of conveying systems, rotating equipment, fans, pneumatics, and packaging equipment.

Physical Requirements:

• Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs., frequently walking up/down stairs, climbing ladders and comfortable entering confined spaces.
• Ability to arc (stick) and MIG weld are preferred (Stainless welding a plus).

Software Skills:

• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); specific experience with QAD EAM considered a plus.

Communication Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

If you are hired at ICL, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. We also offer a generous benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).

Salary Range: $26.92 - $38.00 per hour

Annual Bonus Target: 5%, subject to plan provisions.
