Job summary

Springhill Suites ODU in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance and minor repairs to ensure hotel quality standards. Must have six months of maintenance experience and basic hand tools.

Physical duties include climbing and handling items up to 100 lbs, with weekend/holiday availability often required. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, basic electrical/plumbing checks, and refurbishing guest room furniture.

Qualifications

• Six months general maintenance experience using basic hand tools.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repair work orders to maintain hotel standards.
• Check electrical, plumbing, and fixtures and make minor repairs as needed.
• Refurbish furniture and fixtures in guest rooms and assist in projects as directed.
• Assist in responding courteously to guest questions, complaints and requests.

Job requirements include Basic reading, writing and math skills and six months general maintenance experience using basic hand tools. Physical requirements include Climbing, standing and walking, carrying or lifting items that weighs approximately 100 lbs. Associate benefits include paid time off and 401K.*Duties to include, but not limited to*:· Assists with preventive maintenance including completion of the Preventive Maintenance checklist and completes minor repair work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc., to maintain the hotel and keep product quality to standard.·Assists in checking electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, television sets, lighting systems and makes minor repairs and/or replacement.·Assists in checking and makes minor repairs on general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipe lines, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment.·Refurbishes furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows and counters. Paints and finishes furniture and fixtures in guest rooms, if needed.·Assists Maintenance Technician or Chief Engineer in any project as directed.·Responds in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
