Job summary

Volunteers of America-Greater New York is looking for a Maintenance Technician to support a facility providing safe housing for individuals experiencing domestic violence. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of custodial or maintenance experience.

Responsibilities include cleaning, general maintenance, landscape upkeep, and inventory control. Benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, and paid time off. This is an active role requiring regular mobility and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Accept and transport deliveries, assemble furniture and keep it in working condition.
• Assist in inventory control.
• Be available for emergency situations.

Facility

Victory II is a facility that provides comprehensive services and safe, anonymous housing for individuals and their children experiencing domestic violence.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 1 year custodial and/or maintenance experience.
• Good communication skills.

Principal Responsibilities

• Clean all areas and dispose of garbage in accordance with the facility schedule.
• Provide general interior and exterior maintenance (examples: floor stripping, power washing, plaster or sheetrock repairs, painting, lightbulb changing).
• Maintain the facility landscape and perimeter (examples: lawn mowing, shrub trimming, snow removal, debris removal).
• Complete work orders in a timely manner.
• Accept and transport deliveries of supplies, furniture, and other program materials. Assemble furniture and equipment and maintain in working condition.
• Assist in inventory control.
• Be available and provide back-up in emergency situations.

Physical Demands

This position is physically active and requires regular mobility. The employee is frequently required to talk, hear, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch throughout the day. The role also requires the ability to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
