Job summary

Olympia Hospitality in Mount Pleasant, SC, is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform preventive maintenance on building systems, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC, and respond to guest requests.

The role involves inspections of safety systems, keeping detailed records, coordinating with departments and contractors, and assisting with renovations to enhance guest experience. This is a physically demanding, on-site position with benefits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year general building maintenance experience; Vocational School Certificate preferred.
  • Solid experience repairing mechanical, electrical, kitchen and laundry equipment.
  • General carpentry skills and use of basic hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Respond to maintenance requests from guests and staff, prioritizing urgent tasks.
  • Inspect fire alarms, emergency lighting, elevators, and generators for safety compliance.
  • Keep records of inspections, maintenance activities, and equipment performance.
  • Coordinate with departments and contractors for emergency repairs.
  • Repair guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
  • Assist with renovations and equipment upgrades.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on building systems, equipment, and machinery to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to identify issues and implement effective repairs.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests, staff, and management, and prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact on operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and testing of building systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, elevators, and generators, to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection findings, maintenance activities, and equipment performance to facilitate tracking and reporting.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations such as power outages, plumbing leaks, and other critical incidents, and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks and minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Coordinate with other departments and external contractors as needed to address emergency repairs and ensure guest safety and satisfaction.
  • Perform general repairs and maintenance tasks to upkeep the appearance and functionality of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
  • Assist with renovations, remodeling projects, and equipment upgrades to enhance the overall guest experience and maintain the competitiveness of our property.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures related to maintenance operations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and safety inspections.
Skills Required
  • Provide high-level customer service, communicate effectively with guests and team members, follow instructions, ability to learn quickly, pay attention to detail, and maintain composure when working under pressure
Technical
  • Solid experience performing repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen and laundry equipment
  • General carpentry skills; knowledge and use of basic hand and power tools required
Experience / Education
  • Minimum 1 year of general building maintenance or equivalent in a trade profession; Vocational School Certificate preferred.
