ROLE PURPOSE
Maintenance Technician independently maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs automated production and fulfillment equipment in a fast-paced, high-volume e-commerce wall art manufacturing facility. This role is critical to maximizing equipment’s uptime, sustaining consistent product quality, and ensuring on-time order fulfillment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on large-format printers, conveyors, framing machines, miter saws, joiners, CNC machinery, and packaging systems
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues with minimal supervision
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems including sensors, actuators, HMIs, barcode scanners, and vision systems
- Maintain print systems including printheads, ink delivery systems, and curing units to ensure consistent output quality
- Perform equipment setups, changeovers, and calibrations to support high-mix, short-run production
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Complete maintenance work orders and documentation accurately in the CMMS (E-Maintenance by Fluke)
- Conduct equipment inspections and system checks to identify and address potential issues proactively
ADDITIONAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, and IT teams to improve equipment reliability and throughput
- Maintain tools, parts, and work areas in accordance with 5S standards
- Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements
- Mentor and provide guidance to Maintenance Technician I team members
- Participating in training and skill development programs
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or trade school training in a related field preferred
- 3–5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in automated manufacturing, distribution, or e-commerce fulfillment environments
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical (AC/DC), and pneumatic systems
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting PLC-based equipment such as Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, or Siemens platforms
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Basic computer skills with experience using a CMMS or similar maintenance tracking system
SPECIFIC SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Coursework or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline
- Hands-on experience with large-format digital printing, CNC equipment, or automated packaging systems
- Familiarity with conveyor systems, sortation equipment, and warehouse automation technologies
- Knowledge of variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo motors, and three-phase electrical systems
- Intermediate electrical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot circuits and control systems
- Experience in high-volume, deadline-driven manufacturing or fulfillment environments
- Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills with a systematic approach to problem-solving
- Exceptional attention to detail with a consistent commitment to quality and safety
- Effective time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Clear and professional communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Self-motivated and dependable with a strong work ethic and willingness to take direction
This role is onsite 5 days per week in our Morrisville, NC Production Facility.
