Job summary

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, adaptable, and capable of excelling in a team environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our equipment and facilities. This role also involves welding and fabricating components for equipment repairs, modifications, and facility improvements, making metalworking skills an important part of the position. The role requires a strong character, the ability to multi-task, and a keen attention to detail. Experience with electrical systems, HVAC, and blueprint reading is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Maintenance Tasks: Conduct routine maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform welding on equipment, structural components, and facility infrastructure to support repairs, maintenance, and equipment modifications while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
  • Fabricate and modify metal parts, brackets, guards, and other components as needed using shop tools and blueprints to support maintenance projects and improve equipment functionality.
  • Troubleshoot Issues: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in a timely manner.
  • Conduct Inspections: Regularly inspect equipment and facilities to identify potential problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Complete Training: Participate in company-supplied training programs to stay updated on best practices and enhance skills.
  • Maintain Records: Accurately document maintenance activities and repairs to ensure compliance with company standards and requirements.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with associates to support production goals, promoting a team-oriented work environment.
  • Coordinate with Supervisors and Engineers: Partner with production supervisors and engineering teams to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
  • Ensure Safety Compliance: Follow all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist with Equipment: Support the installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain Work Area: Keep the work area, tools, and equipment clean and organized for efficiency and safety.
  • Engage in Improvement Initiatives: Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance maintenance processes and overall efficiency.
  • Adhere to Policies: Follow company policies and procedures, contributing to a positive and compliant work environment.
  • Perform Additional Duties: Undertake other tasks as required by the Supervisor or Plant Manager to support maintenance operations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven work history in maintenance or a similar role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency using hand and power tools as well as common fabrication equipment such as grinders, cutting torches, band saws, drill presses, and measuring tools; experience with or willingness to learn forklift and hoist operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, operation standards, work instructions, basic blueprints, drawings, and fabrication specifications .
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain welding quality and safety standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing maintenance needs and tasks as required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing, maintenance, or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in MIG and Stick welding is required, with the ability to produce clean, structurally sound welds on a variety of materials and thicknesses.
  • TIG welding experience is a plus, particularly for precision work or thin materials.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or industry preferred.
