SpartanNash in Mishawaka, IN is seeking a Maintenance Technician 2 to perform stock handling, general maintenance, and facility upkeep across the bakery and store networks.
Starting wage is $17-$19 per hour depending on experience; schedule typically 6am with weekends/holidays as needed. Requires High School Diploma, valid driver’s license, and ability to lift up to 75 pounds in a fast-paced environment.

Maintenance Technician Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor and Central Bakery Manager
Responsible for receiving stock from suppliers and puts the stock away in storage areas, rotate storage, and supply areas to maintain order. General maintenance and janitorial duties through entire facility. Deliver and pick up product from stores when needed. Responsible for the maintenance of facilities for an assigned facility and/or company retail stores; follow defined procedures and processes relating to repairs and/or replacements of equipment and fixtures.
Starting wage: $17-$19 based on experience
Schedule: Normally 6am Flexible schedule with weekends and holidays as needed
Education: High School Diploma. Certification may be required.
Qualifications: Requires the ability to follow directions and work in a fast-paced environment, basic math and reading skills to count stock and check supply order sheets. Learn general maintenance of bakery equipment. Requires constant bending, stretching, and good eye/hand coordination. Strong shoulders and back necessary. Valid driver’s license is required.
Must frequently sit, walk, and stand; be able to use hands to handle, grasp, and twist objects, tools, or controls, and use both feet for repetitive movements as in operating foot controls. Must frequently walk, talk, crouch, kneel, bend, stoop, twist, and reach with the hands and arms. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance as needed. While performing the duties of this position, employees are subject to a warehouse environment and may frequently be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity based on assignment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Employees must be able to work weekends, holidays.
Other Duties: Drive bakery van and make deliveries to stores or other locations as required Maintain water conditioner Clean drains in bakery Change bread slicer blades Varies according to production needs, occasionally may be required to work in production areas or in pan room. Perform basic truck maintenance on vehicles.
Environmental Conditions: Exposed to constant indoor temperatures of 75 degrees or higher, freezer temperatures and hot and cold outdoor conditions.
Chemicals: Cleaning solutions and mineral oil. Also, vehicle chemicals (oil, DEF solution, other cleaning & chemicals)
Noise: loud machines.
Odors: yeast, dough, oils, grease.
