Job summary

Precoat Metals is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, overhaul, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment across our plant. You will troubleshoot PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and control systems while performing welding and fabricating tasks to support production.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of related experience, read complex drawings, and can operate cranes and pumps. Expect rotating shifts and a safety‑driven environment with a drug‑free workplace.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of experience repairing and troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and comprehend work orders, equipment manuals, blue prints, and electrical schematics.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and write clearly and communicate effectively with co‑workers, vendors, and supervisors.
• Willingness to work up to 12 hours per day on rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot using knowledge of programmable controllers, electronics, circuits, mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Perform plumbing and pipefitting duties on plant piping systems.
• Operate and repair boilers, compressors, sprinklers, towers and pumps as needed.
• Read and interpret machine electrical and mechanical drawings and blueprints.
• Install, modify and fabricate equipment and systems to meet production needs.
• Weld and fabricate as necessary for repairs or projects.
• Maintain and clean facilities and ensure 6S standards in the work area.
• Input and retrieve information from the Maintenance Management/MVP System.
• Coordinate repairs with department managers and communicate across shifts.
• Participate in continuous improvement in safety, quality and housekeeping.

Summary

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Technicians install, overhaul, dismantle, construct, inspect, replace, test and make mechanical and electrical repairs to buildings and mechanical equipment such as boilers, compressors, sprinklers, piping, plumbing, production and material handling equipment, line equipment and controls.

Essential Job Functions

• Troubleshoot using working knowledge of programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Performs plumbing and pipefitting duties as required on plant piping, such as steam, water, air, gas, and chemical lines
• Operates and repairs electrically and mechanically, all boilers, compressors, sprinklers, cooling towers and pumps as needed
• Read and interpret machine electrical and mechanical drawings
• Reads and interprets blue prints and schematic diagrams
• Installation, modification and fabrication of equipment and systems to meet production needs and schedules
• Welds and fabricates as necessary for repair or projects
• Maintains interior and exterior of buildings including windows, drain spouts, roofs, floors, ceiling, etc.
• Inputs and retrieves information from the Maintenance Management/MVP System
• Participate in continuous improvement in safety, quality and housekeeping
• Performs preventative maintenance as directed
• Performs various inspections on safety equipment
• Requisitions material, parts and tools
• Communicates clearly from one shift to another and to the Production Foreman and Maintenance Manager
• Coordinates the scheduling of repairs with department managers.
• Maintains clean and organized work area according to 6S standards

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Actively participates in adhering to plant housekeeping requirements by picking up trash, sweeping work areas, and returning materials and equipment to their proper locations
• Use computer to enter and retrieve information

Critical Demands

• Ability to read and comprehend written materials such as blue prints, SOPs, work rules, etc.

• Perform work from ladders or platforms at various heights

• Use of respirator required while performing some job functions

Job Requirements

• Four or more years of experience repairing and troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems, to include the following over-head cranes, forklifts, hoists, 3 phase motors, variable speed drives and controls, and heavy industrial wiring and/or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
• Ability to read and comprehend work orders, equipment manuals, blue prints, and electrical schematics
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to read and write clearly, and communicate effectively with co‑workers, vendors, and supervisors
• Understanding and demonstrated ability to apply troubleshooting techniques
• Does require training checklist and demonstration of skills
• Available to work up to 12 hours per day on rotating shifts, that could include weekends and holidays
• 6 to 12 months previous experience on a coating line is preferred
