Job description

Overview

Maintenance Technician at Niagara Bottling. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair of production equipment and plant facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, drawings, and testing equipment.
  • Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other facility equipment.
  • Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes.
  • Maintain industrial control systems.
  • Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs in a safe and timely manner.
  • May fill in for production operator as needed.
  • Create and report repairs throughout shift and complete required work order paperwork, documenting parts and material usage.
  • Understand and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment where required.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance as an essential function of the job.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 years – Experience in field or similar maintenance environment
  • 4 years – Experience in this position
  • 4 years – Experience managing people/projects
  • Experience may include a combination of work experience and education
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic
  • Proficient use of shop equipment (e.g., hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill, lathe, power tools)
  • Proficient with precision measuring equipment (calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, depth gauges)
  • Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of plant or machine center
  • Own toolbox and basic tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 years – Experience in field or similar manufacturing environment
  • 6 years – Experience working in the position
  • 6 years – Experience managing people/projects
  • Experience in high-speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries
  • Experience with technologies: VFDs, servo drives and motors, rotary equipment, HVAC (chillers/air compressors)
  • Experience with electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting
  • Fabrication skills (cutting and welding - MIG, TIG, or stick)
  • Experience reading process and instrumentation diagrams
  • Ability to repair variable frequency drives, servo motors/controllers, and related automation and safety systems
