Job summary

Hokanson-Companies, Inc. is seeking a skilled facilities maintenance technician to operate and maintain essential building systems in our Illinois properties. The role focuses on boilers, HVAC, pumps, and CMMS-driven preventive work to keep operations running smoothly.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and monitor equipment, document activities, and collaborate with engineers and contractors on upgrades. A strong eye for safety and the ability to read technical manuals are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial building maintenance.
• Knowledge of boiler and HVAC system operation and maintenance.
• Familiarity with CMMS and building automation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer proficiency and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain facilities equipment such as boilers, air compressors, water treatment systems, and other facilities equipment.
• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
• Monitor, record, and analyze equipment data; respond to alarms or unusual operating conditions.
• Troubleshoot and repair facilities equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, and control systems.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts inventory.
• Assist in energy management and conservation efforts by optimizing equipment performance.
• Respond to emergency calls for facilities equipment failures or system malfunctions.
• Collaborate with facility engineers, contractors, and management on upgrades, renovations, and capital projects.
• Ensure all work complies with safety policies and regulatory requirements.
