Job summary

CAF USA seeks a maintenance technician to preserve the good condition and functionality of premises in Elmira Heights, NY. You will perform a wide range of maintenance tasks, from painting and repairs to landscape work, while following health and safety guidelines.

The ideal candidate works autonomously, pays attention to detail, and contributes to keeping buildings and common areas in excellent condition. Opportunity to support budget planning and operate facility equipment is available.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of related experience.
• Proven experience as maintenance technician.
• Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems.
• Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.
• Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices.
• Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
• Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair equipment.
• Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure health and safety standards.
• Maintain electrical systems (replace bulbs/sockets; assist with new installations).
• Perform PM on heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.
• Perform manual repairs (fix locks, replace windows).
• Conduct general upkeep (landscaping; painting; carpentry).
• Offer input in budget preparation and ensure it is followed.
• Operate forklift throughout the facility for waste management duties.
• Write/follow work instructions for PMs throughout the facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Overview

The successful candidate will undertake the responsibility to preserve the good condition and functionality of premises. Will perform maintenance tasks of great variety such as painting, building/machinery repairs/PM, landscaping etc. Will be a thorough professional with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly by observing all health and safety guidelines. The goal is to maintain the buildings and common areas in the best possible condition.

Functional Description

Training/Education Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certificate in building/machinery maintenance technology or relevant field will be a plus
• Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) is desired

Safety Requirements

• Shall report all injuries/illnesses to their supervisor that occur at work, the day of the incident
• Shall report any unsafe conditions that are identified in their respective work area to their supervisor
• Shall comply with all CAF USA safety policies, procedures, and requirements that are communicated to them, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
• Shall wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is communicated and supplied to them
• Shall keep their respective work area clean and orderly at all times
• Shall attend all CAF USA required training as soon as possible before the start of their assigned work
• Shall NOT operate any CAF USA equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $30.00/hr to $37.00/hr.
