Job summary

Novipax is seeking a maintenance technician to support electrical and mechanical systems across our plant. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot problems, and carry out repairs to machinery and equipment.

The role requires reading schematics, operating lifting devices, and performing basic welding and metalwork. You will work in a safety-focused environment with multi-area responsibilities in the facility.

Qualifications

• Experience with preventive maintenance on industrial equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical schematics.
• Safe operation of lifting equipment and hand tools.
• Proven troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems.
• Ability to perform minor welding, brazing and cutting.
• Basic carpentry and masonry skills for facility repairs.
• Willingness to work in varied plant areas and follow safety procedures.

• Maintain operation of machinery by performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
• Locate and diagnose problems by observing equipment in operation and using precision instruments.
• Replace defective parts safely and efficiently.

RESPONSIBILITIES: (include, but are not limited to, the following)

• Electricity ohms, power, Kirchhoff's laws and use of electrical measuring instruments, AC-DC circuits
• Industrial control components physical use, symbols , schematic reading. trouble shooting following schematics
• Pneumatic, hydraulic, components physical use, symbols , schematic reading, trouble shooting following schematics
• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on all equipment as well as provides process troubleshooting as needed.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problem; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes/replaces defective parts in a safe manner.
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed parts.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Must be able to do minor welding, brazing and cutting torch.
• Be able to do minor repairs to truck, forklifts, etc.
• Operate Jib Cranes and Forklifts in safe manner.
• Wear safety equipment and obey safety rules.
• Be able to make minor repairs to building through the use of masonry, carpentry and/or cement work.
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder and other metal working tools to make and repair parts
• May work in other areas throughout the plant.
• And / or other duties as may be assigned.
• Report any Food Safety Problem to senior management.
• Initiates purchase order requests for parts a machine

MAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with frequent walking.
• Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 20 lbs. to 75 lbs. Crain Hoists are available.
• Walking: Frequent walking of short distances (approx. 200 feet or less).
• Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 20 lbs. to 75 lbs. Crain Hoists are available.
• Bending: Frequent bending and crouching required to complete assembly tasks.
• Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
