Job summary

EthosEnergy O&M is seeking a Lead Operations and Maintenance Technician for the Mountain Creek Energy Center in Dallas, TX. The role involves ensuring proper operation and maintenance of a ~550 MW facility, supervising OMTs, planning work orders, and coordinating with planners to meet safety and environmental standards.

The position requires 4–6 years of related experience, a high school diploma (AA preferred), and strong knowledge of gas turbine/steam turbine equipment, Maximo, and plant

Responsibilities

  • Set daily priorities for Maintenance OMTs.
  • Provide schedule details to Maintenance Manager.
  • Plan projects and work orders, including materials.
  • Coordinate with Operations LOMT to address priorities.
  • Help create work plans for upcoming projects.
  • Assist other OMTs to complete tasks on time.
  • Complete work order activities as needed.
  • Interface with contract support for facility maintenance.
  • Organize contractors via WAS program for permits.
  • Provide scheduling information to Planner for outages.
  • Maintain a combined cycle facility with minimal supervision.
  • Read meters/gauges to verify operating conditions.
  • Report issues to Maintenance/Operations/Facility Managers.
  • Support Maximo data entry and maintenance records.
  • Operate tools/instruments and perform metal fabrication.
  • Lead capital projects as assigned by Maintenance Manager.
  • Comply with regulatory procedures and environmental permits.
  • Maintain cleanliness of plant and shop areas.

Job description

EthosEnergy O&M is recruiting for a Lead Operations and Maintenance Technician for its Mountain Creek Energy Center, located in Dallas, TX. Moutain Creek is a multi-unit conventional steam generating station capable of producing ~550 MW at peak capacity. Responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the power facility while assigned to the Maintenance Department. Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical equipment, electrical equipment and instrumentation. This equipment includes, but is not limited to the gas turbine, steam turbine, generators, heat recovery steam generator, cooling towers, air compressors, water treatment equipment, demineralizers, motors, pumps, diesel generators, and other auxiliary equipment. Strictly adheres to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees and public safety.

Job Responsibilities
  • Sets priorities for the day to day work of the Maintenance OMT’s.
  • Provides the Maintenance Manager with detailed information regarding the daily, weekly, and monthly work schedule for the Maintenance OMT’s.
  • Plans projects and work orders, including ordering materials.
  • Works with the Operations LOMT to ensure that facility priorities are addressed
  • Assists the Planner and Maintenance Manager to develop work plans for upcoming projects
  • Assists other Maintenance OMT’s to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Completes work order activities as needed.
  • Interacts with contract support to assist in facility maintenance.
  • Organizes contractors via the EthosEnergy Group WAS program to ensure that all permits are being completed properly.
  • Interacts with the Planner to provide information for scheduling projects and outages.
  • Maintains a combined cycle generating facility and all associated auxiliary and support equipment with minimal guidance or assistance. This position requires making operating decisions based on plant procedures, environmental regulations, safety procedures, and using good judgment based on operating data.
  • Reads meters, gauges, or automatic devices to record data such as temperature of equipment, vibration of equipment, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels to verify operating conditions. Visually inspects and listens to equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication.
  • Communicates plant issues and keeps the Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager and/or Facility Manager fully informed of unusual conditions, damaged equipment, and current job progress as the job relates to facility operations. This also applies when performing maintenance when either on or off shift.
  • Fully supports the use of a computerized maintenance management system (Maximo) by displaying a proficiency in using the system, entering data consistent with fellow employees and dedication to the facility maintenance philosophy. Thoroughly records equipment problems on Mainsaver work requests and documents maintenance actions taken on work order forms. Handles corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance work orders in a timely and high quality manner. Shows diligence in documenting spare parts usage and re-ordering.
  • Sets up and operates various tools and instruments to repair parts and equipment. Operates welding and cutting equipment and completes metal fabrication projects.
  • Performs capital project and/or major program responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Reads, understands and complies with all regulatory procedures and facility safety programs. Follow all plant environmental permits.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of all areas of the plant and maintenance shop area, or other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Knowledge
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of gas turbine power plant maintenance.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
  • Capable of writing procedures, work requests, purchase requisitions, and work plans.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals and P&ID's, write routine reports, solve practical problems.
  • Must clearly communicate tasks and needs, and training of other personnel.
  • Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical support systems for a combined cycle power plant.
  • Knowledge of GE 7FA and GE D11 Turbine/Generators.
  • Knowledge of ZLD plant equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in Maximo.
Experience
  • Four to six years related experience and/or training; or a combination of experience and/or education preferred.
Education Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to do walking, reaching, climbing, and stooping and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
  • Work shift hours, overtime, and irregular hours as needed to support reliable operation of the facility. From time to time the working hours will be determined on short notice based on plant requirements.
