Job summary

Covington Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a maintenance professional to perform routine and preventive maintenance across the facility, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and equipment repair.

You will back-up the on-call emergency responder, operate hand and power tools safely, and follow maintenance schedules to ensure reliability and safety throughout the hospital.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in maintenance or facility operations required.
• Knowledge of standard practices, procedures and tools in the general building/maintenance trades preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair to facility and equipment which may involve plumbing, carpentry, painting and mechanical equipment repair.
• Act as back-up for call person in case of emergency, respond timely and appropriately.
• Handle all equipment in a safe manner and demonstrate good working knowledge of tools and their safe use.
• Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedule / instruction and complete reports, as requested.
• Inspect and maintain emergency power equipment, test/start generator weekly and maintain equipment; inspect and maintain fire alarm system and related safety devices and record data as required.
• Inspect and maintain plumbing system, replace or repair faucets, toilets, urinals, etc., and repair/refinish furniture as needed.
• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Perform routine and specific maintenance services which may include grounds work.

Responsibilities

Covington Behavioral Health Hospital is a licensed 104-bed center that specializes in treating adult patients who have been experiencing acute changes in their emotional and mental well-being.

Covington provides inpatient treatment to alleviate distress, provide stability, and improve each patient’s ability to live a productive and satisfying life.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform general maintenance and repair to facility and equipment which may involve plumbing, carpentry, painting and mechanical equipment repair or similar.
• Act as back-up for call person in case of emergency, respond timely and appropriately.
• Handle all equipment in a safe manner to prevent accidents and demonstrate good working knowledge of tools and their safe use.
• Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedule / instruction and complete reports, as requested.
• Inspect and maintain emergency power equipment, test/start generator once a week and maintain equipment; inspect and maintain fire alarm system to include testing system, fire doors, audible alarms, visible alarms(lights) and smoke detectors and record data on appropriate forms as required by state or facility; check condition and readiness of extinguishers monthly; inspect and maintain lighting system throughout facility.
• Inspect and maintain plumbing system, replace or repair faucets, toilet stools, urinals, traps, drains, basins and bathtubs, as needed; repair or refinishe furniture in rooms, offices and dining room as needed.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
