Job summary

Zygo Corporation in Middlefield, CT is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep manufacturing equipment and facility systems safe, reliable, and efficient. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and partner with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to improve uptime.

Ideal candidates have associate degree or technical certs, 5+ years of industrial maintenance, and experience with vacuum and automation systems; strong problem‑solving and documentation skills

Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical certification, military technical training, or equivalent maintenance experience.
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance in a manufacturing environment, with high‑tech sectors experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with vacuum systems, servo controls, motion‑control equipment, and CMMS is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with PLC‑controlled equipment and industrial automation; related certifications preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of TPM, predictive maintenance, and reliability‑centered maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, vacuum, and automated equipment issues.
  • Respond to equipment failures and implement root‑cause corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Support installation, startup, qualification, and maintenance of new equipment.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance activities and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to maintenance programs, spare parts strategies, and equipment reliability.
  • Utilize maintenance systems and procedures to track work orders, repairs, and equipment history.
  • Support facility infrastructure, including utilities, HVAC, compressed air, electrical, water, and vacuum systems.
  • Assist with equipment relocations, facility projects, contractor coordination, and plant maintenance activities.
  • Perform work in compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including LOTO procedures.
  • Participate in reliability, Lean, and continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment uptime, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Assist in developing maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.

The Maintenance Technician, located in Middlefield (CT) is responsible for maintaining manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and supporting infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role performs preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoots equipment issues, supports facility systems, and partners with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to improve equipment uptime and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, vacuum, and automated equipment issues.

  • Assist in developing maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree, technical certification, military technical training, or equivalent maintenance experience.
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; Experience supporting precision manufacturing, semiconductor, aerospace, medical device, optics, or other high‑technology.
  • Familiarity with vacuum systems, servo controls, motion‑control equipment, and CMMS systems is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience working with PLC‑controlled equipment and industrial automation systems; training or certifications in industrial electrical systems, controls, HVAC, or related disciplines preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of TPM, predictive maintenance, and reliability‑centered maintenance practices.
