Job summary

Coal County Extended Care is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform daily upkeep of buildings and grounds as directed by the Director. The role requires operating lawn equipment safely and occasionally rotating call duties with teammates.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and 3–6 months of related experience or training; reading safety rules and manuals is essential. Basic computer knowledge is a plus for inventory and record keeping.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 3–6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Able to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintains grounds and buildings as directed by the Director.
• Prunes trees and trims hedges to promote growth and appearance.
• Operates and performs basic maintenance on lawn equipment safely.
• Assists with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and related tasks.

POSITION SUMMARY:Performs daily maintenance of all buildings and ground assigned by the Director. Will be required to alternate call duty with other workers. Must be able to demonstrate safe use and ability to operate all lawn equipment. He/she must be able to perform other duties as assigned.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Demonstrates the ability to maintain and care for grounds and buildings of the organization.Demonstrates the ability to prune trees and trim hedges to promote growth and improve appearance.Demonstrates the ability to operate all lawn equipment in a safe and efficient manner.Adjusts and repairs such equipment as lawn mowers, sprinklers, and hedge shears.Repairs tables, chairs and benches.Assists with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting and other related maintenance tasks.Stocks biohazard supplies and moves biohazard boxes daily to proper storage.Delivers supplies and moves boxes daily to proper locations as directed.Regulatory Requirements:High School graduate or equivalent.Three to six (3-6) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills:Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.Ability to follow verbal instructions.Skills:Basic computer knowledge.
