Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Claremont, NC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to manage electrical and mechanical maintenance of folding carton manufacturing equipment on a 3x12-hour shift schedule (two weeks of days, two weeks of nights).

The role requires diagnosing and repairing complex machinery, performing preventive maintenance, and documenting work. Candidates should have 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience, a safe work history, and solid teamwork and communication skills.

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Technician at our folding carton plant in Claremont, NC. The main function of the Maintenance Tech is to manage the electrical and mechanical maintenance of our manufacturing machinery. Pay is commensurate with experience. Our current shift schedule is 3 12-hour shifts with rotation being 2 weeks of days and 2 weeks of nights

Expectations

• Assume the role and responsibilities of all Claremont Plant equipment working in a safe and efficient manner.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical breakdowns as well as pneumatic, hydraulic, and general building maintenance
• Install new and upgrade equipment as needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair all equipment to keep production going in a timely manner.
• Assist with inventory to identify parts and new parts to prevent minimum breakdown or machine downtime
• Performs preventive and operational maintenance to ensure a functional and safe environment
• Maintain records utilizing the computer of all work completed, time spent, and materials used.

What You Need To Succeed

• 2+ years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Have a safe work history and perform safe work habits.
• Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
• Be a self-starter and a team-oriented employee
• Have knowledge of general machine shop equipment (welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, pipefitting, air compressors, fire protection, and automation)
• Both Mechanical and Electrical experience.
• PLC troubleshooting experience a plus
• Solid work attendance record.
• Able to comprehend technical documents
