Job summary

ACHIEVE NY is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks across agency facilities and grounds in Cortland County. Full-time; schedule may include evenings, weekends, and on-call responses.

Responsibilities include installation, service and repair of residential appliances, cabinetry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, and flooring. Preventative maintenance, painting, and grounds upkeep are included; valid NY driver’s license

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid NY State driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to lift and assist with up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks across agency facilities and grounds.
• Install, service, and repair residential appliances, cabinets, doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, HVAC units, electrical wiring.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, safety inspections, grounds maintenance, painting, and document work orders.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks across agency facilities and grounds. The Maintenance Technician Level 1’s specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform installation, service, and repair of:
• Residential appliances
• Cabinets, shelving, doors, windows, screens, and locks
• Flooring, walls, roofs, and furniture
• Plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, showers, water heaters, drain lines)
• Heating and air conditioning units
• Electrical wiring, communication lines, and related systems
• Diagnose and repair common and repetitive mechanical or structural issues with minimal supervision
• Perform preventative maintenance on agency buildings, equipment, and systems
• Identify deficiencies and complete repairs in compliance with NYS Building Code and NFPA Life Safety Code; report complex issues requiring advanced repair
• Prepare surfaces and perform interior and exterior painting
• Complete general grounds maintenance, including lawn care and snow removal
• Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds, reporting safety or maintenance concerns
• Maintain maintenance logs, records, and documentation related to work orders, repairs, and materials
• Assist with moving furniture, equipment setup, and general facility needs
• Load and unload equipment, supplies, and materials
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Valid NY State driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier require
• Ability to lift and assist with up to 50 pounds (including transfers and physical support)
