Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, skilled and detail-oriented Tech to join our Maintenance team in a cannabis cultivation and processing facility. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing systems to support cannabis production and its facility. Included: grow lighting, HVAC systems, environmental controls, electrical panels, processing equipment, and general facility maintenance. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience in industrial or agricultural facility maintenance and possess strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on safety and compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Repair:
- General facility maintenance, including drywall repair, painting, light plumbing repairs, order pick‑ups, etc.
- Inspect and troubleshoot electrical systems, including grow lighting, 24 V irrigation systems, RO skid, RTU’s, 277/480 V panels, 120/208 V panels.
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC and grow equipment to ensure all components operate efficiently and safely.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams and directions.
- System Installation and Upgrades:
- Assist installing, maintaining, modifying, and repairing switches, relays, circuit breakers, wiring, fans, generators, RTU service, lighting systems, dehumidification systems, steam generation systems, pumps, ozone generators, etc.
- Assist installing and configuring systems for new grow rooms, processing areas, and facility expansions.
- Upgrade and optimize existing systems to support energy efficiency and operational improvements.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all work adheres to local and state codes, as well as cannabis industry regulations.
- Follow OSHA and facility‑specific safety protocols while maintaining a clean and hazard‑free work environment.
- Environmental Controls:
- Work with the Maintenance team on 24 V irrigation and lighting panels.
- Work with the Maintenance team and environmental systems support to ensure proper functioning of temperature, humidity, and CO₂ controls critical to cannabis cultivation.
- Maintain and repair backup power systems, including generators and battery backups.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and system upgrades.
- Report system status and issues to management, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Use MAINTAIN X for our PM software and task management.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with cultivation, processing, and facilities teams to minimize downtime and maintain seamless operations. Work independently efficiently.
- Help maintain consistent room turnover rate throughout the year.
- Provide support for equipment used in cannabis extraction, packaging, and other production processes.
- Other Duties:
- On‑call for emergency situations.
- Assist in inspecting contractor installation of electrical components and future projects.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education / Certification and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- EPA license (preferred).
- Knowledge of state and local building codes and regulations.
- Additional certification in OSHA, HVAC, electrical, plumbing or controls systems is a plus.
- Own reliable transportation.
- Lift, push, pull 50 + lbs.
- Use a ladder, step stool, man hatch and lift.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Maintenance tech in commercial applications. Experience with cannabis facilities is not a must but highly desirable.
- Familiarity with grow lighting systems (e.g., LED, HPS), climate control systems, and automated 24 V irrigation systems is highly desirable.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Self‑starter, aggressive work ethic, and ability to work with minimal supervision on some tasks.
- Basic computer and typing skills.
- Ability to respond calmly and clearly to emergency situations.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrates the ability to walk, stand, stoop, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, balance, climb and lift a maximum of 50 lbs. Unassisted.
Hours & Scheduling
Hours: 0700 - 1545, however flexibility is a must. We will schedule projects for weekends. On‑call for emergencies is required.
Pay
Posting: $25 per hour.
