Job summary

ISS Guckenheimer is seeking an HVAC Technician to operate, maintain, and repair HVAC and related systems. The role covers chillers, AHUs, boilers, and refrigeration equipment, with a strong emphasis on preventive maintenance and safety compliance.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, modify and install HVAC equipment and components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections on refrigeration and HVAC units.
  • Repair or replace defective parts and controls (thermostats, valves, relays, sensors).
  • Maintain equipment in safe working condition and manage inventory of parts.
  • Document time, labor, and materials and report on tasks performed.

The hourly pay range for this position is $32.00 per hour - $36.50 per hour per hour.Work HoursThe work hours for this position are Mon-Fri, 12:30 pm- 9:00 pm.Key PurposeAs an HVAC Technician at ISS Guckenheimer, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), chilled water systems, air handlers, boilers, heat exchangers, air handler units (AHU), variable air volume (VAV) Systems, fan coil units (FCU), and refrigeration equipment.Responsibilities IncludeInspect, repair, modify and install HVAC equipment including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, chillers, water cooling towers, forced air converter units, pumps, automatic and hand valves, expansion valves, and capillary tubesConduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, isolated heating and ventilating units, including boilers, gas, and electrically operated air conditioning equipment, and make necessary adjustments or repairs, service, and repair evaporative coolersRepair or replace defective parts in units and equipment and their controls, including thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, log switches, damper motors, louvers, relays, filters, controls, belts, compressors, heat exchangers, high limit controls, pressure controls, safety valves, and automatic gas valvesOperate a variety of hand and power tools, welder torch, vacuum pump, test equipment utilized in the trade and a motor vehicleMaintain equipment in effective and safe working conditionMaintain supplies, parts, and tool inventoryRepair and rebuild semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors and compressors for centrifugal refrigeration machinesPerform skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation, and alteration of HVAC equipment, components, timers, motors and wiring systems as needed; connect motors to control panelsTest and examine boiler operations, observing meter and pressure gauges; conduct boiler water quality test and treatment; adjust boiler burner combustionLubricate and pack heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air-conditioning motors, pumps, fans, and other equipmentInstall and calibrate systems; install copper tubing and repair pipes and tubing as necessary; test joints and insulate pipes of refrigeration and air conditioning systems; flush boilers, descale tubing; rebuild pressure and temperature safety valves and water pumpsInstall, rebuild, replace, or repair fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets, and other equipment, as necessaryMaintain related records concerning time, labor, and materials; maintain log of tasks performed and write reports as requiredPerform all other duties as assignedCommunicate effectively with colleagues within the Business Unit and across the company so that information is disseminated effectively and participate in project groups and meetings as requireIdeal Candidate ExperienceHigh school diploma/ GED or greaterUniversal EPA Certification (required)2+ years of documentable HVAC journeyman level operationHands on maintenance and repair experience in the HVAC and refrigeration tradeKnowledge and understanding of standard practices of the HVAC and refrigeration trade and theory of HVAC and refrigeration systemsKnowledge and understanding of materials, methods, and tools used in the operation and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systemsWorking knowledge of all relevant building codes, ordinances, and regulations of State and local authorities pertaining to HVAC, refrigeration, and boilersAble to read piping & instrument drawings (P&IDs), floor plans, site maps and/ or electrical diagramsUnderstand and be able to maintain pneumatic control systemsExperience in actively operating, maintaining, and repairing cooling towers and boiler water treatmentHands on experience using manual and electrical tools and equipment applicable to the HVAC and refrigeration tradeAble to braze/ solder copper pipe, thread black pipeUnderstand all required health and safety regulationsStrong knowledge of proper methods for storing equipment, materials, and suppliesMust have a valid Driver’s License (if driving is required for this role)Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
