The TownePlace Suites by Marriott , located near the Charlotte airport and Billy Graham Parkway , is hiring for full-time Maintenance Technicians . The persons hired for these positions will need flexibility to work 12pm-8pm or 3pm-11pm; weekday and weekend availability is required.


PRIMARY PURPOSE: Maintain the physical functionality and safety of the facility including, but not limited to, guest rooms, public space and heart-of-the-house areas


RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Responds to guest calls and hotel staff reports of non-functioning equipment promptly

  • Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement), plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical equipment including lamps, cosmetic items, furniture, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items

  • Perform preventative maintenance throughout the hotel, including guestrooms, both the front and the back of the house, interior and exterior.

  • Preventative maintenance includes but is not limited to; painting, drywall repair, molding/trim repair, fixture/furniture repair and touch-up, minor plumping repair, bathroom caulking, tile/floor repair, A/C filter replacement, carpet and upholstery cleaning/shampooing.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.

  • Record and report completed repairs and items that require further attention

  • Program TV's and perform other engineering-related duties

  • Uses both power and hand tools regularly in a safe and efficient manner

  • Maintain exterior of building and grounds as necessary

  • Demonstrates familiarity with the hotel’s life safety systems and takes corrective action on any maintenance or operating problems which affect the security or operating condition of the hotel

  • Reports any hazards or injuries in the department or hotel and takes immediate action to correct

  • Maintains the cleanliness of individual work area and storage rooms


REQUIREMENTS



  • Previous building operations engineering experience preferred.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions.

  • Must have the ability to complete required safety classes that pertain to specific job duties.

  • Ability to work any hours/ days during the week and weekends


JOB SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS


Employees in this position may work indoors or outdoors. To perform the job successfully the candidate must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance. Employees must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time, able to quickly maneuver to any location in the hotel, move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping, see the differences between colors, shades, and brightness, hear sounds and recognize the difference between them, focus on one source of sound and ignore others, use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects, make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls, determine the distance between objects, adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects. Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust and chemicals (Paint, epoxy, glue, cleaning products, etc.). Fluency in the English language and the ability to speak, hear, read and write are required as is the ability to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business requirements.
