Job summary

DotHouse Health in Boston seeks a versatile Facilities Assistant to keep the health center safe, clean, and well-supplied. You will manage snow removal, supplies, waste, and maintenance tasks, while supporting security duties as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid MA driver’s license, and reliable teamwork with willingness to work evenings and Saturdays. You will help maintain equipment, vehicles, and the building’s daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe exterior walkways and entrances by removing snow and applying salt as needed.
• Receive, organize, and distribute incoming supplies, materials, and equipment.
• Maintain the maintenance room in a clean, orderly, and fully stocked condition; notify the Facilities Director when supplies require replenishment, including light bulbs, fluorescent lamps, water filters, and air filters.
• Inspect emergency lighting, exit signs, and eyewash stations weekly, and check fire extinguisher inspection dates at least monthly.
• Perform minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general repair projects throughout the facility as needed.
• Empty wastebaskets and replace liners throughout the health center as needed.
• Monitor the overall appearance and cleanliness of the facility daily, including sweeping, mopping, window washing, and other cleaning tasks as needed.
• Provide backup support for security-related tasks as needed.
• Coordinate the preparation, proper disposal, and documentation of medical waste, including maintaining the required manifest log.
• Complete bi-weekly pickups from the Greater Boston Food Bank.
• Operate DHH vehicles for pickups, deliveries, and other assigned errands as needed.
• Perform landscaping duties and maintain exterior grounds as needed.
• Set up rooms for meetings, events, and operational needs as requested.
