Job summary

Valley Credit Union is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine interior and exterior maintenance at branch locations, assist with minor repairs, paint and prepare surfaces, and maintain a safe, presentable facility across multiple sites.

The role requires hands-on problem-solving, willingness to learn additional maintenance skills, and the ability to travel between Credit Union locations as needed.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician performs basic interior and exterior maintenance and handyman work to help keep the Credit Union’s branch locations and other properties safe, functional, and presentable. This position completes routine tasks independently within their training and ability, supports deliveries among locations, and is willing to learn additional maintenance skills as the Credit Union’s needs grow.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Perform routine interior and exterior maintenance at all Credit Union branch locations and other properties.
  • Assist with and/or complete minor repairs of lighting components, including replacing light bulbs, ballasts, etc. that do not require a licensed contractor, and report electrical concerns requiring additional expertise.
  • Assist with and/or complete basic HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, and routine checks within the employee’s training and ability; promptly report or refer more complex issues.
  • Assist with and/or complete minor plumbing repairs, such as addressing simple leaks, replacing basic fixtures, and clearing minor clogs, within the employee’s training and ability.
  • Prepare and paint walls, trim, and other surfaces, including minor patching and touch-up work.
  • Perform general handyman work and minor repairs involving doors, hardware, furniture, shelving, flooring, and light construction or assembly.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, safe, functional, and presentable buildings, grounds, sidewalks, parking areas, and other interior and exterior spaces.
  • Pick up and deliver furniture, equipment, maintenance parts, supplies, mail, and other items among Credit Union locations and designated vendors.
  • Use tools, equipment, supplies, and Credit Union vehicles safely and responsibly; maintain an orderly work area and notify the supervisor when supplies, repairs, or outside assistance are needed.
  • Participate in training and accept coaching to develop maintenance knowledge and skills, including learning when work should be referred to a qualified or licensed professional.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and changing priorities in a timely manner, which may include travel between locations as needed.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs within the employee’s training and skill level.
  • Ability to recognize maintenance and safety concerns and determine when an issue should be reported or referred to a qualified professional.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, equipment manuals, safety procedures, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations and measurements necessary to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
  • Ability to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Ability to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
  • Ability to travel between Credit Union locations and organize work efficiently across multiple facilities.
  • Ability to maintain basic records of maintenance requests, work completed, supplies used, and needed follow-up.
  • Ability to use email, basic computer applications, and work-order or maintenance-tracking systems as required.
  • Ability to communicate with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters.
  • Ability to deal calmly and professionally with diverse personalities and cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to exercise courtesy, tact, and diplomacy. Ability to demonstrate a high levels of customer service and discretion.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education diploma (GED), one to three months related experience and/or training.

Valid driver's license and insurance coverage.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and/or stand ; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
