Job summary

Yugo, a global leader in student housing, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to uphold safety and upkeep across the property. This on-site role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and involves responding to resident requests, performing repairs, and coordinating with management.

The position is full-time, hourly, with a compensation range of $25-$27 per hour. Benefits include health, dental and vision, 401k matching, PTO, paid wellness time, and a number of holidays.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of maintenance experience with HVAC, plumbing and electrical.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • EPA Type I certification preferred.
  • Pool maintenance certification preferred where required by local regulation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient with technology and online systems.
  • Carbon literacy certification or willingness to undertake training.

Responsibilities

  • Complete resident work orders efficiently and professionally, ensuring timely, high-quality repairs and maintenance services.
  • Respond promptly to resident maintenance requests, concerns, and emergencies with excellent customer service and follow-up communication.
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs including plumbing, electrical, painting, appliance repair, carpentry, and other property maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, equipment, and common areas to identify and resolve maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Maintain the overall appearance, cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the property and community spaces.
  • Prepare vacant units for new residents by completing inspections, repairs, and turn activities per company standards.
  • Maintain pools, spas, and related equipment while ensuring compliance with local certification and safety requirements.
  • Participate in on-call and after-hours emergency maintenance response as scheduled.
  • Maintain inventory levels for tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies and keep storage areas organized and secure.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines, company safety standards, and preventative maintenance procedures; participate in safety training and meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with maintenance leadership and property management regarding work orders and operational needs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure quality work and compliance with company standards.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive working relationships with residents, team members, and vendors.
  • Assist with additional maintenance, operational, and property improvement projects as needed.
  • May work near mechanical equipment, at elevated heights, or around fumes and chemicals; lift and move items weighing 50+ pounds.

As the Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and upkeep of the entire property. Acting as a key liaison between residents and management, you will provide exceptional service and maintain the community's value by conducting thorough assessments and performing necessary repairs. Your role is essential in delivering a high-quality living experience for residents while upholding the standards of the property.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, here’s what you’ll be doing!

Responsibilities
  • Complete resident work orders efficiently and professionally, ensuring timely, high-quality repairs and maintenance services.
  • Respond promptly to resident maintenance requests, concerns, and emergencies while providing excellent customer service and follow-up communication.

  • Follow OSHA guidelines, company safety standards, and preventative maintenance procedures while participating in ongoing safety training and meetings.

  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors as directed to ensure quality work and compliance with company standards.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive working relationships with residents, team members, and vendors.
  • Assist with additional maintenance, operational, and property improvement projects as needed to support community operations.
  • May occasionally work near mechanical equipment, at elevated heights, or around fumes and chemicals, and must be able to lift and move items weighing 50 pounds or more while working in varying weather conditions and moderate noise levels.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1 year of maintenance experience, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • EPA type I and above certification preferred.
  • Pool maintenance certification, if required by local regulation, preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain quality relationships.

  • Carbon Literacy Certification or willingness to undertake training.
