Qualifications

• Technical ability to diagnose multi-system malfunctions.
• 3–5 years hands-on gasoline/diesel equipment diagnosis and repair, or recent graduate from automotive/technical college.
• Experience with Class 1–5 light/medium-duty and Class 7–8 heavy-duty vehicles (aircraft/marine ok).
• Understanding of work order labor time standards.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician B is responsible for the inspection, diagnostic testing, repair, and preventative maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment. This role encompasses both diesel and non-diesel assets, focusing on chassis components, refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulics, electrical networks, air brakes, suspension, drivetrain, steering, and HVAC systems. Additionally, the technician will perform fundamental tire services, including replacements, rotations, and tread depth evaluations.

Core Responsibilities

• System Maintenance: Maintain moderate skill proficiency in diagnosing and repairing chassis components, light engines, suspension, drivetrains, steering, and HVAC systems.
• Specialized Equipment Care: Service complex refuse bodies, including associated hydraulic, electrical, and control systems.
• Brake Systems: Perform comprehensive preventative maintenance and repairs on both air and hydraulic braking mechanisms.
• Welding & Fabrication: Conduct line maintenance welding and basic fabrication as required.
• Emergency Road Service: Safely and efficiently provide roadside assistance to return company assets to operational status.
• Diagnostic Tools: Utilize advanced electronic diagnostic tools to accurately identify and resolve equipment malfunctions.
• Training & Compliance: Successfully complete all applicable company-sponsored training programs and adhere to safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: Demonstrated ability to accurately diagnose multi-system malfunctions.
• Industry Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in gasoline and diesel equipment diagnosis and repair, OR a recent graduate/upcoming graduate (within 3 months) from an accredited automotive or technical college.
• System Familiarity: Prior experience with, or strong working knowledge of, Class 1-5 light/medium-duty and Class 7-8 heavy-duty vehicles (experience with aircraft or marine vessels is also acceptable).
• Operational Standards: Fundamental understanding of work order labor time standards.
• Licensing: Possession of a valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1 through T8) are highly preferred.
• Commercial Licensing: A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus.

Candidates must be capable of performing basic inspections with limited supervision across several of the following automotive or heavy-truck systems:
