Responsibilities

• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors, and production machines.
• Locate sources of problems by observing equipment in operation and using testing instruments.
• Remove defective parts and inspect components with hoists, cranes, and hand tools.
• Measure parts and inspect using calipers, micrometers, and rules to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Adjust parts and control instruments using hand tools and leveling instruments.
• Inform production workers to minimize downtime through preventive maintenance techniques.
• Fabricate repair parts with machine shop equipment as needed.
• Maintain inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies and place orders when required.
• Conserve maintenance resources by efficient use of tools and materials.
• Provide maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Prepare maintenance reports by collecting and analyzing data and trends.
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing publications.
• Document actions and communicate needs to teammates to ensure continuity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumonic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications; trouble shooting malfunctions.
• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules; calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
• Controls downtime by informing productions workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
• Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintain equipment, part, and supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
• Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
