Position Title

Maintenance Tech

Pay Rate

Hourly: $26 - $30

Category/Shift

Full‑time, hourly. Shift: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday. Overtime and weekends as needed.

Physical Location

Roanoke, VA, 6405 Commonwealth Dr. SW, Roanoke, VA 24018

Responsibilities

• Identify, troubleshoot, repair, and fabricate hydraulic machines/systems.
• Identify, troubleshoot, repair, and fabricate electrical systems.
• Identify, troubleshoot, repair, and fabricate electrical and motor control/systems.
• Fabricate with metal and/or repair metal structures, including welding and torch use.
• Repair/maintain building and building systems.
• Program, troubleshoot, install, and repair PLC computers/systems.
• Train operators and/or supervisors on proper machine maintenance and inspection.
• Understand applicable codes.
• Order repair and spare parts for machines.
• Basic computer skills: Windows, Word processing, spreadsheets, MPS System (maintenance database software) and SAP.
• Clean area, tools, and maintenance shop.
• Perform all duties safely.
• Read blueprint/schematic drawings.
• Identify, troubleshoot, repair, and fabricate pneumatic machines/systems.

Skills & Qualifications

• Language: Communicate with supervisor, understand instructions, read and fill maintenance work orders.
• Mathematical: Add, subtract, multiply fractions, use a calculator, proficiency with a protractor.
• Reasoning: Isolate mechanical (pneumatic/hydraulic) and basic electrical problems and repair them within reasonable time.

Physical Demands

Lifting up to 25 lb occasionally; frequent 1‑20 lb; reach below waist and knee, kneel, squat, climb stairs rarely; frequent walking, hand/wrist work, keyboarding, power grasping, pushing/pulling; stand for extended periods.

Work Environment

Must wear protective eyewear and earplugs when using compressed air, power tools, or during many maintenance functions. Majority of work inside the plant, occasional outside work including roof and ceiling. Plant temperature varies; generally clean with moderate dust.
